I found this website on uniforms and the person who owns the website was very helpful in describing a uniform I was puzzled about, so he may be able to help you. There are many many websites on military uniforms as well, unfortunately I didn't save them all, just this one. Company C was called the Wigfall Grays. Those particular men came from Shelby County, Memphis. The 4th Infantry was Neely's Regiment. The 4th Regiment was later consolidated with the 5th Tennessee Regiment. Gary D. I wish I could help you with this, but I don't have anything on the DANIELS family although there are some folk of this name in Attala, Leake and nearby areas. Try Attala County Ms. Comc as well as check and see if Claiborne Co MS doesn't have a web site. Some people consider Mississippi to still be a backward State, so they need to write the State Tourist Information in Jackson and get some information and then take a few weeks to visit. Of course , I am some what opinionated,. but I find MS to be

Clay, The 4th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment, especially Company C, was generally from Sullivan County in East Tennessee. They were organized in Knoxville. Company C of the 4th Tennessee Infantry Regiment was generally from Shelby County, Memphis. Moore County was organized in 1871 six years after the war ended. Moore County was made from parts of Lincoln, Franklin, Coffee, and Bedford Counties. Gary D. Norris > From: "Clay Daniels" > Reply-To: 4TH-TENNESSEE-CAVALRY-L@rootsweb.com

Thanks for the reply. Actually, Claiborne County has a nice little rootsweb site, and a very active email list. My father was born there, my grandfather was born and died there, and my great grandfather Humphrey Daniel(s) came there from Tennessee about 1851. I'm glad you don't think of Mississippi as backwards. But Port Gibson is very different from the Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex where I live. People are more friendly, and there is more of a sense of history. We had the opportunity to visit last month, and
