Hi Folks,
Can I be permitted to butt in and ask have any of you come across the family
of David Skene who married a Jane Marr in 1858?
David and Jane had the following children:
William, Agnes Ross, Margaret, Jane, David, Barbara, Christina and Margaret
Greig.
David's parents were James Skene and Margaret Cumming. David at one time
lived/worked at Meadowbank somewhere in Aberdeen. Jane's parents were
Archibald Marr and Barbara Anderson.
Kindest regards,
Karen in Bonnie Scotland

Aberdeen City Archives hold copies of the County Valuation Rolls which
show, for each farm, the estate or owner, and the occupier.

Hi Jerry,
Go to Scottish Documents. Com at:
http://www.scottishdocuments.com/content/default.asp
then click on the "Handwriting Guide" in the bottom right hand corner of the
page. If you search through all the options in the pop-up box, I know that
this will eventually lead you to a glossary of Scottish legal terms - I
think it's classified as "Unusual Words"! For example: "commissariot - the
office, jurisdiction or court of a commissar(y); the district included in
such jurisdiction". As far as I'm awar

William BOYD and his wife DOROTHEA died in 1860 in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. They were buried in the Churchyard.
Would anyone know to which church it may be attached?
I have looked at the list of publications that the ANES FHS have, but the monumental inscriptions for Peterhead do not appear amongst them.

christened at Rhynie & Essie early 1800.
I have Jane Gordon who married Edward O'Brien May 15, 1825, Rhynie & Essie.
Their daughter Mary was christened the same day . They also had 2 other

Hello, All.
Has anyone has traced a SMITH line back to Auchendrain in Cairnie in the
mid-18th century?
My 6th g-grandmother, Ann SMITH married William SMITH in 1728. The Grange
OPR entry states that she was living in Cairnie and that they married in
Cairnie. At the baptisms of their eight children between 1729 and 1748,
five witnesses are SMITHs in Auchendrain, who may have been Ann's father
and siblings.
As there are no Cairnie OPR surviving before 1738 I am hoping that someone
may have worked their way
Would it be possible for SKS to look up 1841 census at Overtown, Dudwick for Helen Nicol born Ellon age about 61 married to James Nicol. I am not familiar with 1841 lookups so would appreciate any help.

Hello, Lists. This is a shot in the dark. I forgot that I met my great-grandfather John Pirie's brother Joseph Pirie in Florida during two vacations in 1965 and again in 1966. My grandmother Louisa Josephine Pirie (Bisset) learned during one of those visits that Joe had a daughter, and I'm almost 100% sure he said her name was Dorothy (at least it started with a "D"). So her name would be Dorothy Pirie and would be living in Detroit, Michigan, where Uncle Joe worked as, I believe, a "newspaperman" durin

information.
