I think this was not so much a coincidence as a reflection of the fact that Fraser Place is a 10 minute walk from the erstwhile Kittybrewster
4. Re: [ABERDEEN] 1901 Census - ESSON [1]
Would these be descendents of my 3xgt-grandparents James ESSON and Jean ROSS? Their known sons were Alexander (my 2xgt-grandfather), James (b. Birse 1812), John ((1815), Joseph (1816), George (1825) and Lewis (1831). Probably all born Birse. I Haven't yet tried to trace their offsprong, apart from Alexander's. It really is a small world! Will let you know if we are also from north of Aderdeen. Thanks! Hello: I've already communicated with Georgia off-list (and I remember Donna's name from my previous connection with this list so I may have sent my information to her too.) In case there are other Jaffray-Park descendants out there, though -- my great-grandmother Margaret Park, born in St. Fergus on 11 June 1845 was the daughter of John Park and Christian Jaffray. As I told Georgia, there's a birth given in the IGI for a Christian Jaffray in 1814 in St. Fergus, which would be a logical age and place, but

16. Streets in Old Aberdeen, World War One era [1]
Hello: Can anyone tell me if I've reached the right conclusion after studying maps of Old Aberdeen from 1901 and today? During the First World War, my paternal grandmother Jane Clerihew (nee Charles) and her three sons, Peter (my father), Andrew and George lived at No. 6 School Road while my grandfather was in Europe with the Gordon Highlanders. At that time School Road ran from Dunbar on the west and ended at King Street on the east. Between King Street and the shore was just open fields or marshes, what m

I have tried searching on Scotspeople and have not found his death Is there anywhere else I can look? I have tried looking for his wife`s death but alas I haven`t been able to find Ann Thain`s death either. As Daughter Elizabeth Milne was married in the Catholic church would there be separate records for them elsewhere? Katherine

24. Living conditions for a "typical" tenant farmer in Aberdeenshire c.1830? [1]
My two Scottish great great grandfathers (James Smith of Aberdeen, and James Findlay of New Machar) emigrated to Canada in 1835 and 1836 respectively, and settled very close to each other, in the vicinity of Elora Ontario (home of the Bon Accord settlement), which at that time was distinctly backwoods and where the most reliable means of transporation to more civilized areas, due to the primitive nature of such roads as existed, was to walk the roughly 100 km to Lake Ontario, where one could board a boat ca
