I have just recently joined this List group for Aberdeen and am
therefore curious about whether anyone might have researched Alexr.
Wallace of Smiddyhill, Aberdeenshire, father of William (1806),
Alexander (1808), John (1810), James (1814) and George (1817).
Might the father, Alexr. Wallace, also be the same Alexander Wallace
noted as being buried in the Tarves Kirkyard with a wife (Margaret
Gray), and two of his sons, a daughter-in-law and grandson, and an
unnamed daughter who died without being named in
I am researching the Gerrard and Irvine family. Not all of this has been
verified so there may be errors with some of the information. Some MI for
Fetteresso kirkyard was sent by another lister.

Do you mean an entry in the pre-1855 Old Parish Registers, or an entry
in the post-1855 civil Register of Marriage? What does the entry
actually say?
It is hard to give the significance of a single word taken out of its
context, but I am guessing that this is from the OPRs, in which case,
"Dalvate" will be her place of birth or residence. Wherever it is, it
isn't big
I am currently researching William Thomson & Janet Addison Daniel's and their family Who lived within this area in 1891.Does anybody Have a copy of this Census and Can Help ???Thank You Art

Hi,
I am hoping someone may be able to help me in locating some information regarding my 5th great-grandparents. First I will start with my 5th great-grandmother, Nancy Bell:
She was born in 1763 in Orange County, Virginia. I do not have an exact birth date or a death date. She is buried at the old Landrum family cemetery outside of Lexington, Georgia in Oglethorpe County. She married Thomas Landrum who was October 6, 1759 in Orange County, Virginia and died in 1832 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. T

It may or may not be significant, but Beldorney and neighbouring places
in the parish of Glass, were, in 1861 (and, indeed, up until 1891)
reckoned to belong to Banffshire.
The article on Glass in the New Statistical Account (dated March, 1842)
lists the landowners of the parish as inc
Hi Don,
You may be onto something here!!
I have the 1881 census aswell and have already looked up and found
Charlottes family. She married John Williamson ( joiner )and they went on to
have 5 children.
Her birthplace is noted as Peterhead .. and the marriage I found for
Margaret and Alexander was in Peterhead aswell.
I will try to delve further .. although I can't seem to get onto
familysearch at the moment for some strange reason!! Have been trying for 2
days now!
Thanks for replying
Regards
Mandy
I'm playing a long shot here, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
I've been trying, without success, to find my g.g.g.grandparents grave in St. Nicholas cemetery. Either they never had a stone, or it's one of the many illegible ones. Considering his seeming success, based on his will, I have to think there was one but... Anyway, his grandson (my g.grandfather) is buried in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and the name of the company(?) or carver (?) from Aberdeen is on the bottom of the tombstone.
So assuming a lot, it see

Looking at a film of christenings at Foveran, Aberdeenshire, last night, to see if the christening of my gggm Margaret Ruxton (daughter of David Ruxton and Eliza Bisset) was in fact recorded, but somehow not extracted when the data was loaded into the various on-line databases in which it appears, I was disappointed to see no mention of her baptism which should have taken place between 1804 and 1806, based on her age in census returns (*) and from the record of her death (in Wellington County, Ontario) in 1
Hi Listers,
I am joining the list again temporarily to tell you that I have completed the
admission records for the public hospital (Charity Hospital) for the months
of July and August 1851 in New Orleans. As I have told the list on previous
occasions, New Orleans was one of the largest points of entry into the United
States in the mid 1800s.. Because of its location on the Mississippi River,
immmigrants who came to the US through the Port of New Orleans had access to
cities further upriver, and ci

If you look closely at the record (I assume you are relating to the online

I was wondering if anyone could look up the 1901 census for me. The address is Kepplestone Cottage, Rubislaw, St Machar, Aberdeen. The surname is NAPIER. The head of the house should be James, wife Margaret, possibly a number of children and James mother Jane.
If anyone could help that would be great.

Hi Peter,
Although I am not directly related to the McGregor family, I have researched
a paricular branch of the them that originated in the Strathspey parishes of
Duthil, Inverallan, & Cromdale etc. I also know where Croughly is (but not
Urghan of Croughly) nearTomintoul in the parish of Kirkmichael, Bnf. I found
some entries on the IGI where Malcolm McGregor & Margaret Burgess had issue
in Duthil c. 1800 and parents of the same name also had issue in Kirkmichael
c. 1820. I have experienced some diff

"On the off chance", could you give me any clues at all regarding my ggg
grandmother, Sara West Simpson, who married Major John Grant of Beldorney
Castle, Glass, Aberdeenshire. She died 27 Jan 1861 aged 60.
This Grant family seem to have links with the Simpsons of Cobairdy, so it is
just possible that she came from that family.
Any help much appreciated.
Best regards
I am having difficulty figuring out a few names in Drumblade parish 1841,

Hello, Listers,
Well, that web site could be addicting! I have now ordered three documents,
waiting to download the third! The first two were of someone else, I'm
afraid, but if anybody has an ALEXANDER HAY, Ulright of Aberdeen, who died in 1837
witrh a brother named ARTHUR, let me know. (I'll barter!) Now, I'm going for
JAMES HAY. Let's see what happens there!
By the way, what does "Ulright" mean?
