2. Re: Savoie/Thibodeaux and Re:Lydia Hebert [0.979847]
Hi cousins! What an interesting day.......although neither of the above posts were mine, I have an interesting parallel. My paternal grandmother's name was Lydia Hebert, daughter of Alcide Hebert and Armeline Helie, of Quebec. My maternal ggrandparents were Urbain Thibodeau and Marguerite Savoie (Bouctouche, NB to Gardner,MA). I have 2 puzzles: 1) Armeline Helie's birthplace and parents are a mystery. According to my grandmother's marriage cert., her mother was born in Canada and the date I have is

4. Stephen White's Dictionaire [0.979847]
Heather, What a wonderful idea. I don't live near Louisiana or Nova Scotia but would love having access to these books. It never occured to me to ask our library to get them. Thank you for a great idea. Mary Hi Everyone, I live in Lafayette, Louisiana, and I put in a request at the Lafayette Public Library for the purchase of Stephen White's Dictionaire. Has anyone else done the same? If you live in this area, or even just visiting, will you please put in a request at the library? I don't know if they
5. Acadian Naming Patterns [0.979847]
I'm aware that in some cultures or communities, such as the Scottish and the Lebanese, there are certain typical patterns or practices often used in the choice of given names for the children. With this in mind, were there any typical naming patterns used by the Acadians? I was hoping that this might help me with my research. I am researching GAUDET and LEBLANC - Acadia> ? > NB, Canada > Boston, MA (1892) Martha Gaudet Joseph Kosciusko, MS
6. Genealogical Symposium during CMA [0.979847]
I neglected to mention the Genealogical Symposium in my CMA report yesterday. It was held August 5 at the Nicholls State University in Thibodaux and was absolutely excellent. It was there (and NOT at the Genetics Seminar) that we had a free and delicious lunch. During this lunch hour a 5-piece Cajun music band entertained us - washboard and all. The music was perfect for the setting . . and not so loud that we couldn't talk to others. This genealogy session was sponsored by the Lafourche Heritage Socie

9. Help! [0.979847]
I am looking for information on the D'Entremont/d'Entremont family. Sir Philippe Mius d'Entremont was the founder of Pubnico in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. Many with the surname d'Entremont/D'Entremont live in Nova Scotia Philippe originally came from France. I am interested in locating other d'Entremonts in Canada and in the U.S.A. especially if there are any in the Louisana area. Thanks Francine Dobson of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.
10. Re: Re Decendents of Martin Aucoin [0.979847]
Hi Bud: This "paper" is a sheet that someone went to France and hired a genealogy organization to do research for them, I got this third hand. The page is all written in French and has information on research on Michel Boudrot and Michelle Aucoin they did. It has basically the same information that is in Bona Arsenault about Michel Boudrot, and then has: Michelle est la fille de Martin Aucoin. Elle serait originaire de La Rochelle, selon les sources les plus courantes. Nous avons quelques certitudes concern
11. Ste-Anne de Pays Bas [0.979847]
Hi list. I recently reviewed some records from the "Ste-Anne de Pays-Bas" church/mission (abt 1800 - 1870) in New Brunswick. Does anyone know if this was an actual church, and if so, where it was physically located? If it was a mission, do you know what area it covered? One record of interest to me, makes mention of the "la paroisse de Major (F?)isle". I'm not sure of the spelling. Does anyone know what parish this is, and which county in New Brunswick it is located? Thanks in advance, Yvon Pitre Fr
12. Re: Pierre LeBlanc s/o Daniel wounded 1707 [0.979847]
Hi Roger and Everybody- Here is the information that I have on my web site regarding Pierre LeBlanc, son Daniel and Frangoise Gaudet. My source is none other than Stephen White, Genealogist at the University of Moncton. Lucie "Pierre is the only son of Daniel and Frangoise who remained at Port-Royal. He inherited the paternal home at Pri-Ronde (Round Meadow) 9 miles further up from the Port-Royal fort. He was a Captain in the Militia - he was wounded in the hip in a skirmish between the French under t

14. notarial records/Vercheres [0.979847]
Hi, 1) Need the URL for the English version of the Quebec notarial records--Parchemin, I believe? I had it but I changed computers I must have somehow lost it. 2) Could anyone please tell me where civil records concerning Vercheres would be archived? I thought it would have been in Quebec, but I can't seem to make any headway there. 3) Also, for lagniappe, is Trois Rivieres considered as part of Acadia or not? Gladys

17. Stephen White's Dictionnaire - lookups [0.979847]
Hello Gordon, Lucie, & Listers, I received my copy of White's Dictionnaire this week, and nearly kissed the postman in my joy! Then I ripped the package open (carefully), and WOW is this going to be fun! As Lucie suggested, any of you who are members of Genealogy Societies should encourage your organization to purchase a copy of the Dictionnaire, because our people have spread far and wide! Ok, I'm calm now. In appreciation for all the information, guidance, and encouragement I've gotten from the

19. First Acadians in Louisiana Revolutionary War [0.979847]
Ben asked about list of Acadians which qualifies decendents for membership in DAR. I have a copy of such a list, but unfortunately only a partial reference. It is from: Acadian Genealogical Exchange Volume ? Number ?, page 70 "Revolutionary Soldiers Whose Records During the Revolution have been Established by the Registrar General, NSDAR" Notes with this list are: Copied from DAR Magazine "New Ancestor Records" and from list given me by Mrs. John R. 20. Arsenault [0.979847]
Hello, I am trying to find our information (parents, exact date of birth, etc) on Paul Arsenault(Arseneau). From the information I found in Tanguay, it appeared that most the the Arsenaults listed there were Acadian, so I'm hoping I'll find some folks here who are also researching the family. My Paul was born in 1836 in Canada and was in the US by at least 1856, and went by the name SNOW after that - Connecticut in 1856 and then moved to RI by 1870. He married in Connecticut, which unfortunately
21. Unidentified subject! [0.979847]
Hi Marcel, The books were still on sell last Wednesday when I had to go to the Archives to get some Baptismal certificates for some of my ancestors. They cost $30 U.S. I don't know what they are charging for postage and handling but it shouldn't be more than $5. They can be ordered from: Diocese of Baton Rouge Department of Archives 1800 South Acadian Thruway Post Office Box 2028 Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70821 Mary LeBlanc Terrio
22. Just a Thought [0.979847]
Hi All. Well, my curiosity got the best of me and I allotted myself one trip to the library to see what I could find about George Washington and his relationship with the Acadian's plight. Interesting how much more compelling history is at this age (50) than it was in fourth grade. As a side note let me add here that I went to a parochial school in Baton Rouge, La. and was taught by nuns who were not from our area. I have no memory of ever studying specifically about the history of the Acadians,
23. White/LeBlanc [0.979847]
Hi Folks! The name LeBlanc was anglicized to White shortly after the LeBlanc's left Margaree, NS. There are more out there that also changed their names , I would like to hear from them and how they are connected to Daniel LeBlanc who married Francoise Gaudet. Also, does some one have access to the Book on the "History of Margaree". Thanks for any help. Francine Dobson

25. Abraham Dugas [0.979847]
O.k. Lucie, now i'm confused. You replied to Bill: "Abraham Dugas married to Madeleine Landry Abt. 1700 at Port-Royal was the son of Abraham Dugas and Marguerite Doucet." In my research I have that Abraham married to Madeine Landry was the son of Martin Dugas married to Marguerite Petipas abt. 1676. According to my notes, Martin was the son of Abraham Dugas and Marrguerite Louise Doucet married abouth 1647. I'll be the first to admit that my info may not be correct, but if not, I need to know
