Lucie and List:
I remember checking several DUVALs coming over from the French part of
the Dominican Republic after their revolution (early 1800s). I
believe some of these settled in and around New Orleans, although the
DUVAL name shows up in St. Mary and Ouchita Parish areas also.
While developing the HUVAL genealogy, the entanglement with the DUVAL
name has been very comman---there are several entries in the St. Louis
Cathederal records, for example, which are almost surely HUVAL rather
than DUVAL (see

Hello Listers:
I was wondering if any of you know anything about Michel FOREST, FORET, or DEFOREST who married Marie Hebert circa 1666 in Port Royal. I have only been able to pick up tidbits of information from online sources and most of them are conflicting. Some have him born in Holland, or Belgium, others in France, and still more in Acadia. Each submitter has a slightly different birth date as well. He apparently has 3 or 4 different sets of parents too, Crispin DEFOREST and Marguerite BORNSTRA or He
Hi y'all,
I'm trying to locate a person by the name of Thierry Straub who has done
research on the de Villiers family, but I don't know where he is. Since he
writes in French, I assume he has to be either from Canada or France, and I
am hoping that some of you might know of him.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hello Everyone!
My name is Therese Gilmore and I am new to both geneology and this list. I have traced my Richard geneology back to Michel Richard. In looking in the Acadian book at the geneological library, I could not find a completed list of the children of Edouard Richard and Cecilla Marcott, m.08-02-1831, Nicolet. The only child listed was Adele. In looking at a copy of the church registry of St. Zephirin, Courval, Yamaska County, I found my gr. grandfather's marriage record. His name was Isaie(listed

Hi everyone,
I just recieved the following note from Eric Krause at "The Fortess of
Louisbourg" web-site. I suggested that it would make our research easier if
we could tell who were the parents or Godparents or guest on the parish
records for the baptisms, marriages and deaths. He informed me that the
information was taken from the original cards by the priest and that the data
was entered by listing the names in the order that they had been written.
He has since informed me that the site would be un
