Can anyone tell me more or refer me to where Id find informaiton about how
someone would have gotten to Minnesota in 1850's.
Looking to see if anyone can direct me.
I have Magloire & Anasasie Huot [married in 1857 polk country] then in
Northern Maine in 1902. Could anyone tell me where I would be able to find a
researcher for this period? I think they moved to Canada but am unable to
place them from 1860-1900.
Magloire was listed as being born in Canada, maybe quebec along with the h
Michel Judice was a son of Louis Judice, the Commandant, so Marcelite was a

Simon Bourgeois' father Joseph arrived with his brother Paul about March
1766.
Note: Roger Rozendal stated in his posts on paper money that Joseph and his
brother, Paul, arrived with the Joseph Broussard group in Feb. 1765, but
they most likely arrived with a later group since they were on the March
1766 list for paper money and they are on the 4/9/1766 census of Cabanocey
[St. James].

Rita,
I have the parents of Charles dit Charlitte as Charles and Anne Robichaux. I
have Marguerite's parents as Joseph Broussard dit Beausoliel and Agnes
Thibodeaux. They arrived with Joseph in February 1765 and went to Attakapas.
Marguerite died after 1777 [she was on the 1777 census of Attakapas that
Roger Rozendal obtained] and Charles died in 1809.

Stanley, that's a good question.
Coming from the Madawaska French community of northern Maine, it's a
question I've struggled with for a very long time. I have Acadian,
Quebecois, and even Huguenot ancestors... my branch of the Michauds arrived
in Madawaska within a year of the Acadian families that had been evicted
from their homes along the lower St. John River area of New Brunswick in the
"Deuxihme Dirangement" of the 1770s. These families intermarried
extensively. I have Daigles, Martins, Cyrs (A
In Louisiana, the Acadians and the descendants of those who inter-married
with Acadians are known as Cajuns.
Are the descendants of Acadians who married non-Acadians considered Acadians
in Canada? Is there a difference for Acadian/French-Canadian marriages vs.
Acadian/non-French marriages?

Alice,
Please clarify. The Chauvin lines in Colonial were French [from La
Rochelle] and French-Canadian [Quebec & Montreal] not Acadian lines. One of
the Chauvin lines married into the early French LeBlanc line.

Joseph Bourgeois is 14th on the March 1765 list of holders of
Canadian money receiving a receipt for 1681 livres 8 sols in
billetes. This list is headed by Alexandre Broussard. As far as I
know, there is no March 1766 list for paper money.
Joseph Bourgeois and his extended family (including brothers Michel
and Pierre) fled Attakapas in the Fall of 1765 along with many others
and settled in Cabanocey where they were listed in the 1766 census.

Andy,
The marriage is in the SWLR and the parents are given!
The entry for the death of their son, Jean Baptiste, incorrectly shows Anne
Brun as them mother. Anne Brun was the mother of Anne Doucet.

Yes you should go to St. Martinville, Louisiana and visit the Acadian
Memorial Cultural Center and the Memorial.
Also if you are in the area on April 23, 2006 attend the presentation of the
discovery Village Thibodeau located in Poplar Grove, Nova Scotia and the
joining of 2 families that ever owned the land - the Thibodeau's and the
Shaws by Dick Thibodeau and Sara Beanlands at the Acadian Memorial.
Reservations are required as the space is limited. Contact the Acadian

Hi Paul,
I don't know if I'm missing something here but I'm not sure that I
understand your lead in to all of this - you began with the marriage of
Francoise Breau and Pierre Saulnier.
Anyhow without proof as to what you are proposing, this can be very
misleading. Genealogy is based on fact and not just on assumptions and
propositions.
I will see if I can find the parents of Francoise but to be honest, the
absence of her name from the revalidation of any marriage doesn't mean much
- if her parents marri

Andy,
Pierre Prinne [Primo, Primeau] and Susanne Plant [Plante] were passengers on
the ship Britania that left Maryland in 1768 from Baltimore with Acadians
and German Catholics, landed in Texas and walked overland 350+ miles to
Natchitoches. See list of names at
