One eagle-eyed cousin {Paul LeBlanc] noted that the area in-between
Iberia and Assumption isn't labeled! It is part of St. Martin Parish.
The surveyor made a mistake when Iberia Parish was surveyed and
separated that part off of St. Martin!

You do not need to take a course in French to understand the genealogical

Don,
Is this the same Anne Landry married to Augustin Broussard, son of Alexander
and Marguerite Thibodeaux?
Thanks
The entry below is for a Charles LeBlanc marriage in New Orleans, LA in
1783. I have tried to link him with other LeBlanc lines without success. I
also can't find the trail of him entering New Orleans nor of his death. I
have also searched the Acadien sites without finding Thomas LeBlanc and
Perinne in or out of Pennsylvania. Does anyone have any information about
this family?
Thanks,
Henry Seymour

I don't remember the dates of his books.
I have children of Alexandre Earl Bossier (b. July 12, 1832 in St. John the
Baptist Parish) m. to Aspasie Marie Badeaux (b. Jan. 10, 1851 in Iberville
Parish). They were married May 3, 1871 in Grosse Tete, Iberville Parish
The children were born from 1872 to 1880.
Would they show up in Fr. Hebert's books with spouses?
Andrew McClure Bossier is my grandfather, so I have his info, but I would
really like to get at least the spouses of his siblings.
Thanks in advance f
Would someone tutor me about the correlation of the name LeBlanc, LaBlanc,
Le Blanc La Blanc, Blanc, DuBlanc, Du Blanc with how it came to be written.
What if the person is French and has one of these spellings? What if the
person is Spanish and has one of these spellings? English? Etc?

Hi List,
Question about Jean Gaudet who was born in France 1575 died 1671 Port
Royal?
Does Stephen White say who were his wives? I'm finding a mention of (1.)
Mercier and (2) Nicole Coleson. Another place I found where Francoise
Gaudet, Jean Gaudet's daughter, was first married to a Mercier and then
married Daniel LeBlanc.
Thanks so much,
Lona
This is an Elusive LeBlanc! I have also been trying to trace him without
success thus far. Neither Lucie nor SAW found anything.
I suspect that he was a French or French-Canadian line.

Dear Candace, The term gris-gris is from the creole/African American
culture. I suspect that the term became familiar to those outside that
culture by a New Orleans rock/jazz/blues musician by the name of
Dr.John. His breakout LP had a song on it called "Gris-Gris" in the
later part of the 60's but, it is also on a greatest hits package. I
think it was one of the first LP's I bought, showing my age I guess.

Hi John & Don,
That surname would have been Galern/Galerne. It is listed among the
first 300 families to have settled in Acadian. However, the reason it
is likely not in Stephen White's Dictionnaire would be because J-B would
have arrived later than the dates of the earlier settlers and later than
the names he comprises in his books.
I have nothing on this Ancestor either but if you find nothing, I would
be glad to ask Stephen White when I see him in June.

Sandra:
The Acadians arrived in Acadia in July 1632 as French colonial settlers, to
carve out frontier homes in an area that was called Acadia, or Acadie in
French.
Although most of the Acadian colonists were French in origin, coming from
the Centre-Ouest region
My thanks to all who helped with information on Galerm, aka Galerne. This
