Hello All,
I need a little help with my Bastarache/Mouton line, please.
I have Elizabeth Bastarache and Jean Mouton marrying about 1763, but have no
information further back, except for a note that says Elizabeth was the
daughter of Anselm Bastarache.
I can't find anything about the couple on Stephen White's site, but I could
have missed it.
Any help will be appreciated.

Does anyone have any information on William Russell Hicks born about 1822 who
married Zeolide Mathilde Bourg born Jan. 30, 1831, Bayou LaFourche, Louisiana.

Hi all, I am looking for any information on a couple I believe to be in
my direct line.
They are:
Augustin BOUDREAUX married to Francois RITTER. I have no information
except that I believe they are the parents of Marie Celeste BOUDREAUX
born 9-30-1809 in Opelousas, Louisiana, USA. who was married to Louis
SAVOIE.
Any information would be greatly appreciated, Take care, BG
Hi Angela... I believe that is "nous prjtre soussigni" (translation: means
the priest who signed at the end of the document.)
"Le 5 courant" means the present date of the 5th - I think the "vis" that
you have would "nie le 5 courant" .. So she was baptized on the 10th of June
1889 but born the 5th. Lucie

Of course the books are for sale through Hebert publications, but the cost
for all 45+ volumes is somewhat prohibitive.
The books are available here in Louisiana at most parish (county) libraries..
However, they are in the special collections section and cannot be

A colleague is making a presentation to a literary group and wishes to
incorporate comments about PELAGIE LA CHARETTE by Antonine Maillet. She is
looking for analytical material, mainly regarding the historical bases of the
novel (how much / what is historically based; how much / what is not, etc.)
Does anyone know good sources -- either online or printed form?
Thanks, in advance, for any ideas.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that took some of their time to
help me in my search for my family history of my Dugas family line. Like
I stated it seems to be very hard to find any information on the dugas's
that are creole. Does any one know where I might find a book titled "The
History of St. Martinville"? Futhermore does anyone know the history of

Lona and Listers,
There were only two children for Francoise Felicite BENOIT & Jean

Jeanine Grant Lister Writes: Regarding your note including the mention of
a parish St-Jean-Baptiste, there was a parish (still is, I think) in
Bouctouche, Kent County, NB, by that name.
At one time Bouctouche was called Despres Village, but I don't know if it
was
ever known by any other names.
Can anyone tell me where I can locate this parish register? -or would SKS
look to see if a Michel Benoit &/OR Josephte-Josephe-Josette Lemire is
listed in the records from 1760-1798.
Thank you much,

Don,
You are a jewel for sending this. California doesn't have great French
history so this is much appreciated as is Lucie's, Jim's and others who have
so faithfully contributed!!

Hi Fran... Andre, son of Daniel, did not have a son born in 1733. Given
that he and his wife Marie Dugas married in 1683, she would have been 50
years old. Their last child was born in 1710. This is my direct line.

Dawn: I have the family line with no more information than you
mentioned...except Ignace BONHOMME was born in Quebec.
The dates seem unusual!
If Your marriage dates are correct; Ignace was married before
his parents? " Nicolas BONHOMME married Catherine GOUGET on 26
June 1695. Ignace BONHOMME married Agnes MORIN 12 Jan 1671" in
Quebec. Their daughter, Catherine BONHOMME was born there on 24 Nov 1671
and married Louis MOREAU about 1692 in Quebec.
Would appreciate your comments or any information.
According to Stephen A White in " le dictionnaire ginialogique" pages 873/
874:
William Johnson dit Jeanson was Scot and a soldier in the English garnison
at Port-Royal.
Their son Charles married Marie Aucoin circa 1744 daughter of Joseph Aucoin
& Anne Trahan.
Guillaume dit Billy married circa 1743 Marie-Joshphe Aucoin daughter of
Pierre Aucoin & Catherine Comeau.
