Does anyone know exactly what the deal is on returning to Jefferson Parish? Jeff. Emergency Management website says one thing and Aaron Broussard is quoted as saying something else. Which is correct?
Can we only return today (Monday), Tuesday and Wednesday? Or can we return to get our things after Wednesday?
Help us with valid information. We're in Dallas and San Diego. Need to make plans.
Thanks and God bless us all.

Our vulnerability! Wow! If ever it has been shown just how really
vulnerable we all are this episode (Katrina) has been the best example.
This countyr has had a real wake-up call, and I hope that now the
bureaucrats and talking heads of both parties will quit their
collective partisan foolishness, and get on with the business of
estaablishing guidlines for worst case scenarios such as we have been
witnessing this past week. If we are going to use our National Guard
for overseas use, then we need
My neighbor across the street sent this to me. My wife's cousin in Long Beach sent his wife and kids to Pensacola and decided to ride out the storm. We pray for his safety.

We at the Acadian Memorial would like to let you know that our organization

Most of the major groups requesting aid are asking for money rather than

Hi All,
We in Texas understand what the Louisiana residents are going through right
now because we lived it. We didn't have as many deaths but our flooding and
devastation was almost the same. I know because I lived through it with an 11
month old baby and my husband called out to Galveston in the National Guard.

Miracles do happen! Proof is, that magnificent cathedral is still standing.
I have seen many more miracles while watching the recovery of all the victims
that did survive.
I have to see the good now as I can't take much more of the bad. They have a
long road ahead of them with the clean up but I believe it will get done!
Thank you DJ for the information!

I must comment on the frustration of help being so slow.
On Saturday before the storm, New Orleans and surrounding parishes were
ordered to evacuate. Most did! My son did and lives in my driveway now. His home
is destroyed and everything he had lost, but he left on Sunday and came here.
Every time a hurricane is headed in this direction, and people are ordered to
evacuate, there are always those who rather stay and party. The night before
the storm, Fox news was talking to people on Bourban st

they will be treated the best as we would treat guests into our home. They
will not be called refugees or evacuees according to Governor Romney.
Volunteers are asked to sign up to help not only with serving food, etc. but
also to care for the pets that will be coming along with their owners if
they are needed to bathe them, walk them, etc..

There will be a need to review the failure of the Cingular cell network. My
family in Baton Rouge cannot call out and I can't call in to the 225 area
code. Baton Rouge wasn't impacted too heavily by the hurricane so the 225
network shouldn't be impacted. There should also be a backup for the 504
numbers. In effect, Cingular phones with 225 and 504 are nearly totally
useless.

Stanley et al,
I'm particularly interested in the hurricane that displaced the Cajun
community at Bayou des Ecores (Thompson's Creek) as quite a few of my
ancestors were forced to relocate.
Nearly all of the information I've found online suggests that most of
the people relocated to Lafourche. However, none of mine did. They all
went to West Baton Rouge.
I just wonder if any stories of this storm and the inhabitants exist
beyond what is easily Googled.
Thanks,
