I have been told by a cousin of my late fathers that family by the name of WATSON lived in Nairobi in the early to middle half of the 20th century. My great grandfather was Charles John Watson born 1866 in Bethnal Green, London. His parents were Edward Watson and Mary (nee Lyons). Charles married Louisa Sarah Hillier and they had 3 known sons and a daughter. I think they may have had another daughter possibly called Florence. Tina Claydon (nee Watson) Devon UK
4. Re: [AFR-KENYA] BROWN-COETSER [1]
Hi Jonny, Which certificates are you after, I received a Death Certificate I ordered from Kenya a few months back, I have just applied for a Birth and Marriage Certificate as well, they use different forms for each, which I can send you like. The Surname Coetser I would look for the birth in South Africa, however Civil registration did not occur in South Africa in 1862, so it will be a hard puzzle to crack as you need to find the church record for baptism etc. similarly for marriage if it was in Sou

13. SHUTT - Edith Eliza, George William & Marguerita. [1]
The above family were my gt. aunt, her husband and daughter. They went out to Kenya in the early years of the last century. George William SHUTT, born c 1873 in Walsall, STF, was involved in building the railway from Nairobi to Mombasa in some capacity. His wife, born in 1871 in Farnsfield, NTT, joined him. Marguerita was born in 1896 in Stockingford, WAR. The family remained in Kenya and all three died out there. I have a photo of Marguerita's grave in Nairobi; she died in 1917. However, I have

15. Ruth DAVIS [1]
I am writing to ask if anyone on this list knows anything about an accident that befell my second cousin, Ruth DAVIS, who fell over a cliff in Kenya in mid-July 1969 and was killed. Ruth was an American. She was in Kenya, along with other anthropologists, to do primate research. She was buried in Gombe Stream National Park, which I believe is near Kigoma. Would anyone know anything more about this event or how I could get more information about it? Thanks very much. Jayne perllan987@aol.com
