Hallo, I had great uncle Harry COX who was in the army on the border
between Malawi(then Nyasaland/Rhodesia) from about 1902 - 1920 when he came
home to UK on leave. He was about 47. He left his papers at his relatives
home in London. We think but do not know if he went back to that country
afterwards. Can anyone help?
Thank you from

Further to my message about my Great Uncle Harry Cox who was in the army in
former Nyasaland(now Malawi) until 1920. He left some papers in a relatives
house when on leave in the UK in 1920 and the last paper shows he served as
an Officer in Charge of Border Veterinary Police from 1st Apri.l 1919 to
14th April 1920. It was a letter from Chief Veterinary officer of Zomba
Nyasaland.
Has anyone suggestions as to how I might find if he went back to Malawi in
the 20s. Thank you
Jackie Ade

Hi Jackie,
I too found an Uncle of mine going back to the UK and he had his occupation
down as "planter". I don't recall him planting anything during my life-time
but maybe he was as a younger man.
During the time of your uncle I believe they were planting a lot of tobacco.
My grandfather planted tobacco as a side-line and his eldest son ran the
estate. Apparently there was a crash in the price of tobacco and my family
pulled out of "planting".
Your great Uncle may have been more successful if he
Hallo, I am finding out about my Great Uncle Harry R. COX born 1873. I
found him on the Incoming Passenger Lists to the UK, now on Ancestry. He
had been Nyasaland for a few years before 1920 and in June of that year came
back to the UK on the death of his father. On the passenger list he gave
his occupation as a Planter. I just would like to know what would he have
planted and are there any records available for me to search.
He left the UK again in 1920 but we do not know if he went back to th

I understand that Keith and an associate wrote a guide book, published in the UK in 1993, on how to construct a simple press for use in extracting oil from nuts, which was based on work that he and his assoicate had earlier done in Malawi. Can anyone tell me if Keith is still in Malawi, or if not, where he might be found to
