Hallo, I had great uncle Harry COX who was in the army on the border between Malawi(then Nyasaland/Rhodesia) from about 1902 - 1920 when he came home to UK on leave. He was about 47. Further to my message about my Great Uncle Harry Cox who was in the army in former Nyasaland(now Malawi) until 1920. He left some papers in a relatives house when on leave in the UK in 1920 and the last paper shows he served as an Officer in Charge of Border Veterinary Police from 1st Apri.l 1919 to 14th April 1920. Hi Jackie, I too found an Uncle of mine going back to the UK and he had his occupation down as "planter". I don't recall him planting anything during my life-time but maybe he was as a younger man. During the time of your uncle I believe they were planting a lot of tobacco. My grandfather planted tobacco as a side-line and his eldest son ran the estate. Hallo, I am finding out about my Great Uncle Harry R. COX born 1873. I found him on the Incoming Passenger Lists to the UK, now on Ancestry. He had been Nyasaland for a few years before 1920 and in June of that year came back to the UK on the death of his father. On the passenger list he gave his occupation as a Planter.
