Thanks so much for your trouble Heinz. It is greatly appreciated.
The original Lourens who settled in the Cape in 1698 was indeed from Germany (Rostock) and his name was then spelt as Lorenz or similar. It changed to the South African Bredasdorp Lourens and in some cases Louwrens later. Some of them went farming in SWA, but I dont yet know where. Some of the Lourenses such as Cornelius and his son Piet Lourens (killed near Grootfontein) were big game hunters in your country in the 1870s too.
Once again
Hello everyone
I eventually had time to check the book and searched for the following
names:
Louwrens/Lourens, Nefdt, Maasdorp, van Helsingen, von Creytz
The only name I found was:
Bezirk Karibib: Schmiede und Wagenbauerei , Emil Lorenz
(District Karibib, (black)-smith's shop and waggon makery, Emil Lorenz)
(Lorenz is actually a German name and Louwrens could be South African)
Plesae note, that the adress book is from 1913 and in this time mainly
