Hi Kirsten I dont know Lina Sanders parents names but she married my
cousin in Seychelles
one of his sons his sons married Lina Payet I was told she has a
sister Alexandrine
the info below is from my cousin in Melbourne...... I gave her you
previous request about the Payet family and her reply is that her
daughters father in law who is a Payet confirmed that definitely the
Sanders mentioned are indeed Lina's family, also he Hoareau and Morell
families are related to his wifes family
Kirsten in my post
it was my cousin in Melbourne who confirmed the relationship from the
info you gave not the ones in Seychelles just to make that a bit
clearer as when i read it looked as if it was Jo who confirmed I have
not written to him yet I was waiting for reply from melbourne first
regards lesley

Hello Clive,
Am I right in thinking that the BRAND family in Seychelles were originally from South Africa.
I am trying to trace the family of HUBERT BRAND and MARIE FRANCOISE CORALIE VEL, and was considering the possibility that they may have emigrated to South Africa around 1885-1890.
Are there any records in Seychelles that might help me, such as passenger lists for the BI shipping Co.
Thanks Clive,

Hello Clive,
Thanks for the information on Hubert Brand, it will be interesting to see if
I can find any more on Hubert and Marie Francoise.

Hello Clive,
Thanks for your help, I appreciate you visiting the archives for me.
I will have a look at the National Maritime Museum web site, if there is
anything relating to Seychelles, I will go along to Greenwhich.
I found this web site: http://www.biship.com/historical/routes.htm
There is a small photograph of the SS. Karanja on the opening page.
Thanks again Clive,
Steven.

Accordingly to the marriage certificate Hubert Brand was born in Ireland. However his parents appear to be living in New York at the time of the marriage. He was 27 years old at this time and his occupation was seamen. His mothers maiden name was Kelly.
I would not be surprised to learn that he was employed on one of the American whaling ships that where stationed in Seychelles.
Marie Frangoise was born on Fregate island and was 33 years old.
I did not find any reference to South Africa.

Hello Steven
Sorry for the delay in replying but I have had computer problems and have
been off line for a couple of weeks.
I have no knowledge of the Brand family except for the birth record of
Bertrand Charles Brand on 10th Dec 1875 at Pointe Larue. It is quite
possible that Hubert Brand was from South Africa. The marriage certificate
should give the birth place for Hubert Brand. I will check the marriage
record at the archives on Monday to find out.
Regarding British India shipping records I have not
