Does anyone know if there are any passenger lists from England
available for 1912?
Also, was a passport required in 1912?
Kind regards

Hi Jim,
My family tree is under Tribalpages.com under the "Brooke - Sumner" /
'Pattinson" family tree. it may be worth looking at that to see if there is
a connection to the family tree. We did have a relative a cousin who lived
in Hatfield Harare now in Sa which was my 2nd cousin.
Sorry, i don't have much more than that but it is detailed all my family
entry right, which incidentally back to 1503 amazing hey, so take a look
and match it up the password to the site is "tassies" hey who knows it mig
Hiya Vic and list,
Many thanks for the correction on Eiffle Flats,
much appreciated :-)lol
I took a good look at Google Earth and saw what you pointed out, what
excellent software hey:-)
Thanks for the suggestions and input Vic, all great appreciated :-)
I am really just snooping about hoping to get lucky and locate someone who
is connected to the original family but due to ongoing concerns and the mass
exodus of pioneer families etc it may become a way bigger task that
imagined

Hi Jim:
The place name is Eiffel Flats. Four miles from Gatooma - the
latter was renamed Kadoma a few years after Rhodesia became Zimbabwe.
I was Postmaster in Kadoma for several years, and whilst there was on
the local Library Committee - am fairly sure there was a Liz
(Elizabeth?) Prinsloo on that same committee. OK, you're not looking
for the current Prinsloo line, but Prinsloo's were still in Gatooma
twelve years ago.
If you have "Google Earth" software and enter "Eiffel Flats,

Hello List,
I'm a newbie to the list and hope SKS will help guide me with
my search in Zim please?
Although I already have family member connected to Zim i.e. my Madgen line
that worked and lived near Shabanie mines in the 1850-1900 timeframe I have
never followed the branch lines from my tree who also went to Rhodesia in
the same timeframes. Recently I was given a letter dated in 1991 announcing
the death of a relative and it contained some family names and connections I

Hello
I am wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a on-line listing of
telephone white pages for all of Zimbabwe.
Looking for a R. Werrett
Thank You in Advance
Tony Werrett
Hi Tony,
I'm not sure that you will find a "white pages" for Zimbabwe. If you have
not already done so, I would recommend that you subscribe to the South
Africa list on Rootsweb which is much more active than the Afr-Zimbabwe one.
There are many Zimbabweans on the SA list many of whom will be prepared to
do a "look-up" for you.
==== SOUTH-AFRICA Mailing List ====
If you want to subscribe send an email with the word subscribe in the body,
to the correct address, dependant on how you want to be subscribed:
May you and yours enjoy a very HAPPY EASTER.

Hi I'm new to the list and looking for any info on the above.
Frieda was born Adamson and married in South Africa in 1935. She returned to Rhodesia working in both Salisbury and Bulawayo and applied from there for a divorce from Duvenage which was granted in 1941. She was about 31 in 1941 (Born 1910).
It is not known if she remarried or what happened to her after this.
I'll be grateful for any leads
From Jenny (down South!)
Dear Dee
There is a couple living on the Isle of Man now from Zimbabwe. They are
named POWERS and are about the right age. The last time I saw them was
about nine years ago. Do you want me to check out this possibility?

My telephone book lists one BJ Powers 32 Morayshire Gardens, Borrowdale,
Harare. Telephone Number (63) 883.250 good luck. If not you will have to
ascertain from the Masters Office if an estate File has been opened for him
between 1994 and 2004 - they can do this quite quickly. Write or phone.
Address in website archives - I have listed it before.

Herbert PHILLIPS had property in Rhodesia at end of 18th century. His daughter Maud ROWLEY and sons Robert Lawrence, Walter Hugh, Henry Clarence went to live there after 1900. These were from his first marriage.
Herbert Phillips' second wife was Annie Elizabeth. She is thought to have died in Africa about 1900. Could anyone please advise if there is any way of finding out about her death?
Many Thanks

Dear List
I have worked for six years in amongst other the Government Archives in Cape
Town, have last year completed a book on the history of the Vosloo-family
etc. I have been conducting a course in family history in our local library
for the past 12 years. I am at present busy preparing a CD version of the
course. Where can I get information on the basics of research in Zimbabwe?
I also want to add the names and contact details of people who are willing
to undertake commercial research in Zimbabwe in
Hallo Gilly,
Contact the Genealogy Institute of South Africa (GISA), a mrs Maureen de Villiers, they have copies of some death notices for Zimbabwe, they do charge a fee - which I think is minimal, and she might be able to help you.
Her address is mdv@sun.ac.za

Hi listers,
I need some help with a relative who worked for the then Salisbury Municipality Treasury Department in the 1920's. His name was George SHORT. I would like to know if there is anyone I can write to in the Harare Municipality who might be able to give me some info on his time there and anything about his family.
Thanks,
Pat
