Higgins on a register of Confederates buried in Oxford cemetery. The list appeared in Confederate Veteran magazine in 1910, and the name is just above another name for a veteran of the 22nd Alabama. No unit is listed for W. F. Higgins -- he is listed as a member of an unknown Alabama unit.

As for meeting a woman in a hospital, other than laundresses and other auxillary personnel, most of the people assigned or hired for medical duty were men. He belonged to a company recruited in Washington and Clarke Counties, the "Dickinson Guards". This command served as Company "F", 32nd Alabama Regiment. Along with many other members of his regiment, Reynolds was captured south of Nashville at LaVergne TN on Oct.
