Enoch Alldredge raised a company of man (most of them his sons and
son-in-laws) and at the organization of the Forty-eighth of Alabama Infantry was
elected Major. He was wounded at Cedar Run and return home to become a member of
the House of Alabama.
Jesse J Alldredge (son of Enoch) was also in the 48th Infantry as a Colonel
and wounded.
Enoch's grand father, Jeremiah Chaney, from Virginia was in the American
Revolutionary War. He served in Captain Hammond's Company as a Soldier.

William married (2) Minerva Hale on 2 November 1857 in Blount Co, AL. There is
no record of where William is buried. It is assumed that it is Blount Co. He
lived in Summit, Blount County.
Minerva made pension application, Confederate States of America on 6 June
1899. She stated that her husband, William Kelsoe, had 160 acres of land in
Blount Co. He was a private in Co. "B" of 19th AL Regiment, Alabama Volunteers.

William married (2) Minerva Hale on 2 November 1857 in Blount Co, AL. There

The family returned to AL soon after this census and Jacob joined the
Blount Co Ho
While my gg-gf, Calvin Pruitt, never made it to Blount Co, his wife and 5
children came there in about 1870 with her new husband.
Calvin Pruitt was in the 38th GA, Co B and was at Antietam where he was
probably severely wounded. He recovered and again joined the 38th GA just
before the Wilderness Campaign. He participated in the Battle of
Spotsylvania CH and was captured at the end. He was one of the first
prisoners to go into the Union POW camp at Elmira, NY in July, 1864. He
was released
Moses Payne was born in 1764 in VA. He married Mary Rogers on the 4 of February 1784 in Orange Co., NC.
Moses Payne applied for his Rev. War Pension, March 30, 1835 in Blount Co., AL It was not granted until after his death in 1848, at which time it was given to his living heirs. The living heirs of Moses in 1848 were: Isaac Payne, Nancy Richey, Margaret Farley, Cynthia McMahan, and Jane Payne.
Moses died 22 November 1848 in Blount Co., AL. Mary died 8 March 1849

Civil War soldier, CLAYTON TIDWELL, Co. A of the 48th Alabama, born 1837 Blount County Alabama, parents unknown. Clayton was married to Nancy Ganter, daughter of George and Naoma Ganter of Edgefield SC. Clayton did not make it home from the war. A salute to this brave soldier. We remember Clayton with love and appreciation for his brave sacrifice. He was gt gt grandfather of my husband, Douglas Allen Lowe.
This location has an atlas with each state and each county in 1895. It can
be useful, especially to see the transportation routes at the time.
