Thank you Penny for the extra info.
I also have found a Millie Tharp listed in the 1850 census of Barbour co
living with a Samuel Nixon family. She is also age 14.

Can't give you titles, but Fred Watson

of Ozark have written articles about
Westville; contact the Pea River
Genealogical and Historical Society
in Enterprise; sure they would have
some written matrials for sale; they
are on line, but I do not have their

I am looking for the Smiths in Dale, Coffee and Geneva Co. Our g-gndfather
was Jonathan Julaney Smith (b.31 Jan 1867,Daleville, Dale Co.) Jonathan went
by the name John or Jonnie.
His parents may have been J.J. Smith and D.K.
Jonathan was married around 1890, to Julia Mary GRAY. Julia's parents farm
was located about 2 miles south east from Coffee Springs, just off of hwy

people were from Opelika, Lee Co, AL. and that's were we found
Thanks Anita for checking for my Elizabeth Deborah Carter Sims West

I am interested in the location of the Methodist Cemetery in or around
Clopton. I believe that my great great grandfather and gggrandmother, W.W.
and Frances Horne McDaniel, are buried there. Is there a Methodist Church in
Clopton? Any information would be appreciated.
Hi, all,
I have the Oates book. Happy to do look-ups. My gggf was in the 15th, too.
Lewis M. Sasser. The book gives little descriptions of the individual
soldiers. I just ordered the book. It is $50 plus $5 shipping.

Hi Gov. Oates was my mother's cousin. Her father Walter Neil Oates was a
distant cousin of the Governor's. I also have the book and will be glad to
do lookup as well. My grandfather's greatgreatgrandfather was Governor Oates
father's first cousin. My grandfather was Neil Oates, his greatgrandfather
was Ephriam whose father Stephen was Governor Oates father William's first
cousin. I paid only 30 dollars for the book from Morningside Press. Looks
like I got the most of a bargain. Le

In the 1850 Dale County Census, the Carter, Turner, and Smith Families
are all within a page of each other. The same families show up in the
1860 Walton County, FL census. I believe the families were very close
friends over the years and migrated from South Carolina together, where
I also found the same surnames within pages in the 1800 Fairfield SC
census. I have an old photo of William A. Turner and Green R. Smith
("better known in the war as Curtis") The two served with Emanuel A.

Christine,
Don't have anything on old photos,
but if you will go to your local VA
Office w/ whatever documentation
you have, they should order a marker
at no cost to you other than having
it placed; meantime, I would contact
the Publicity Office at Rucker and let
them know, I'm sure they would eat
that up and probably provide a Burial
Detail if you requested it.
Go for it Gal!!

Larry Trawick,
Thanks for the information on James David Martin and wife. It's still a
possibility that they are the James and Mary Martin who sold my
great-grandfather James Henry Clark his land in Grimes. Let me know if you
find out more.
I think Smuteye is in Barbour or Bullock county.

Does anyone have anything on Henry Matthews and Ephsey E. Ward? Her
parents are Samuel Pollus Ward and Nancy Leonard. They lived in Dale Co.
Al.Her sister married Richard Ira Woodham and her brother James Robert
Ward married Adoline Westamire.
I have CSA pension records for Emanuel A. Carter, enlisted FL 6th Inf. Co.H, Apr. 02, 1862. Do you suppose he enlisted with FL after serving in the AL unit? Perhaps he joined AL unit to serve with his brothers, even though at 1860 they all lived in Walton County, FL. The one roster I
found on-line for 15th AL Co. E didn't list an E.A. Carter, but I'm still looking. Interesting to note that both Lemuel and Leonard also enlisted in US Army for FL Civil and Indian Wars after serving in Civil War. Thanks for t

If you got the Dennards Bluff location from the 1870 census it is an error.
The 1870 census list everybody in Beat 11 and 12 as Dennards Bluff but in
earlier and later census the same people in the same Beats are in the
northern part of Monroe Co.
They would really be in the area near Old Texas.
