Was his brother the same Alexander of Company A of the 59th killed at Nashville. Elizabeth's parents were John SOLOMON and Rebecca STURDIVANT. I was told the family was connected to those STURDIVANTS of Selma, who owned STURDIVANT Hall. Elizabeth was born in 1832. a Solomon MCLEOD who lived in Seale in the 1940s is either Alexander and Elizabeth's son or the son of her sister Frances and her husband Daniel MCLEOD. Le, the name Soloman is mentioned 10 times and the name McLeod is mentioned 24 times in the index to the Dale County Heritage book. I didn't have time to look on the individual pages to see if they reference the people you are looking for but can probably do that by the weekend if you have not already checked that source. Let me know if you want me to pursue that. Linda Altman

http://www.archives.state.al.us/civilwar/search.cfm The link above is for the State of Alabama Archives. They have information for alpha A-O. Wallace Community College at Hanceville has the CSA records for Alabama and is a lot less expensive than the Alabama archives. Mr. Jim Davis does a excellent job running the library and they will look up the records and mail you a copy for a small fee. I think my last request cost me $5.00 for the look up and .50 a page for the copies. Good luck, Margie ---
