Daniel was in Company F of the 27th Alabama when it surrendered in 1865.
He started out in the either the 57th or the 59th. I think it was the later.
Was his brother the same Alexander of Company A of the 59th killed at
Nashville.

Elizabeth's parents were John SOLOMON and Rebecca STURDIVANT. I was told
the family was connected to those STURDIVANTS of Selma, who owned STURDIVANT
Hall.
Elizabeth was born in 1832. a Solomon MCLEOD who lived in Seale in the 1940s
is either Alexander and Elizabeth's son or the son of her sister Frances and
her husband Daniel MCLEOD.

Archives Military Records- Would like any info on this
war as to dates etc. Thanks, Harold Stephens
Le, the name Soloman is mentioned 10 times and the name McLeod is mentioned
24 times in the index to the Dale County Heritage book. I didn't have time
to look on the individual pages to see if they reference the people you are
looking for but can probably do that by the weekend if you have not already
checked that source. Let me know if you want me to pursue that.

Kay, I had no luck in opening the web page you gave.
The sight had several wars listed and I clicked on the
'Florida War' and found a person with the same name as
my ancestor, James Hughes. Harold

My friend- Watson's book, Forgotten Trails, has a lot
of info on Dr. McLeod in Dale Co. I do not see any
refernce to a Elizabeth Solomon. There are some
Solomons in Dale Co. and very prominent people. If you
want more on Dr. McLeod- give
James Alexander McLeod and Daniel McLeod were brothers and they married
Sisters Elizabeth A. Solomon and Daniel married Frances A. H. Solomon.
Daniel McLeod survived the Civil War, however I believe James Alexander
McLeod did not.

I am trying to find the parents of my ggg-grandmother Hannah E. Wood. Hannah was born c1824 NC (from census records) She married William Rufus Wood 03 Sep 1840 Henry Co, Ala (I have that info from Marriage books).
I have them on the 1850 Barbour Co, Ala census, (which borders Henry County) and the 1860 Census Butler Co, Ala census...with their children.
I have not found them on a census in 1870; and in 1880 William is listed as a widower, living with son William in San Jacinto Co, Tx. So Hannah died s

The link above is for the State of Alabama Archives. They have information
for alpha A-O.
Wallace Community College at Hanceville has the CSA records for Alabama and
is a lot less expensive than the Alabama archives.
Mr. Jim Davis does a excellent job running the library and they will look up
the records and mail you a copy for a small fee. I think my last request
cost me $5.00 for the look up and .50 a page for the copies.
Good luck,
Margie
