1. [ALGEN-L] Bad News, Good News [1]
There is more news in ALGenWeb lately. First, the bad news is Sam Russell and John Radford are leaving the project, so five of their counties are up for adoption. Bullock, Etowah, Macon, Pike and Tallapoosa are the available counties. The good news is Debra Crosby, who's been working with Sam for quite awhile, has taken on the Clay County site. Carolyn Golowka will temporarily work John's four counties, Bullock, Macon, Pike and Tallapoosa and get them updated. She will not be taking over as the permanent

14. [ALGEN-L] New Statewide File [1]
Hi, everybody, I have just uploaded a new book to the Statewide page. Deb Haines bought an antique book about the Cholera Epidemic in the United States in 1873. She scanned the pages pertaining to Alabama and sent those plus the title pages and maps of Birmingham and Huntsville to me. You can find this at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/al/statewide/cholera.htm All pages are linked and ready to go. They are of special interest to Jefferson, Madison, Montgomery and Barbour counties as these are wha

Alvin Jones tried to adopt Saint Clair county several months ago, but apparently mail merge wasn't working at the time, or the al@usgenweb.org (or whatever) address was not working, because he never heard from the SC, and then I adopted it in September. I have contacted Alvin, and he is very enthusiastic about being the CC for Saint Clair, so I have now turned the county over to him, and his name is on the page. If Talladega ever becomes available, I would still like to have it back. I have written to the

You are very right Richard, it's very hard to see them leave the project. I have worked with Sam for many years, he actually taught me to create my first web page,, years ago!! We both have a very dear love of Clay County which is why he offered to let me take over and in Sam's tradition, I hope to keep it a vital and interesting county site for researchers. The new site is ready at http://www.rootsweb.com/~alclay and the link is ready to be updated. Thanks Richard!! Debra Crosby ----- Original Message --
