Allison...thank you so much for putting all that
time and energy into fixing those indices. What a
joy it was to just look up the page I needed. I
have been through each page of the 1850, 1860,
1870, and 1880 indices and nearly went blind :-)
Thank you again for such a lovely and thoughtful
gift. I am sure I speak for all of us.

Dear List:
I'm so glad my "labor of love" is a help to many of you! When I began researching my family, I thought most of what I needed would be found in Northeastern Mississippi, where I was born and where my grandparents & great-grands lived when I was small. Surprise - most of my relatives were in and around Lamar County from as early as 1830 until 1920!
I appreciate the kind emails I've received thanking me for the index, and it dawned on me that I haven't posted my Lamar County surnames in quite a
Peggy, I hope you will put all marriages on the list, which might help us
that are far removed from Alabama make some collateral connections! I

well be in Sanford Co. I will put their census birthdates to help in
probable marriage years. They would be:
Isaac Green Young (b Feb 8, 1835)
Anguish McCleod Young (b 1838) mar Sarah Ann Custer abt 1860.

I first want to apologize if you get doubles. I am posting this on
several list.
I am looking for information on the above church. I have recently found
out that there are some of my ancestors buried there. LAVENDER/LAVINDER
and maybe, (hopefully), some EDNEY's. Can anyone tell me anything on
this cemetery? I have been unable to find it indexed online. Can
anyone offer any help or suggestions where I might get some information
about this cemetery?
Thank you in advance.

Does anyone have, or know of, a Family bible or a copy of the Birth,
Marriage, and/or Death Record pages, for the Thomas R. and Mary NOE (d.
December 1, 1867 - Sanford/Lamar County, AL.) family? Any knowledge shared
of existence of such will be appreciated.

Dear List:
I have prepared a surname index to the 1880 Lamar County AL census, the images of which are already online, as you probably know.
I am trying to get the index on the Lamar Co. GenWeb page but until then, I have added it to my website, along with links to the image files of each page.
Here's where to find it:
