Dear John: I too am descended from the Van Buskirk Family. My grandfather
was Charles Henry and his father Charles Andrew and his father Lawrence
Andrew all of New York City. By coincidence, my grandmother on my father's
side was an Allen, but I have never been able to find out any information
about them. All I know is that her father's name was Arthur and her mother's
first name was Catherine. Her full name was Emily Jane Allen and I think
she was born in Staten Island NY. She married my gr
Eureka!!!!
I've finally found my Allen connection after 25 yrs. It's all circumstantial so far, but I'm confident it's the correct line.
Talcott B. Allen b. 1789/90, died 1824 according to his gravestone inscription in Pine Hill Cem., Elba, Genesee Co., NY. According to his War of 1812 pension papers, Huldah (Allen) Baker (we thought she was his dau.) stated that Talcott B. Allen was m. 1811 in Schoharie, Schoharie Co., NY to Lucy Rice. Hulday was b. in 1808 in NY, so she couldn't be a da
Lois,
I would love to correspond with you about your Ananias Allen. I believe he may be the same Ananias Allen that is my ancestor. I have sold my home and am building another, my Allen files are packed away but will try to get at them so we can compare notes. I would be happy to share anything I have with you. After being on this list for so long, this is my first time to find someone I think may be connected to my line. I can be reached privately at clatamc@msn.com .
Thanks so much

Marc,
Those were my pages - unfortunately for everyone - AOL one day burped and
wiped out ALL of my pages - all I can think is a worm hit their network and
my stuff was one of the unfortunate erasures.
Someplace I have a link to a webpage that the government has of all pages
on-line - once I find that URL (or if someone else has it can share it with
us) then you can see those files - my old address for the main Allen's stuck
page was at:

I am posting this to both ALLEN lists. Sorry if you get this twice.
Can anyone on this list tell me the migration patterns of the Allens from our
John Allen/Amy Cox ancestry?
I do know that some went to Noth Carolina, and then after a few years some of
them went to Indiana, but am certain some went on into Ohio from PA to trek
westward.
I would also like to know what families moved and what families stayed.
I am sure there are books and articles written about these families, I just
don't know wher

Hi replying to a response, no I haven't found a census that helps.
I have posted entries on message boards for both Dutchess and Columbia Counties. I have worked Columbia and Greene Co records for most of my other families, 3/4 of my family tree cross paths in the region. all of my dad's line and part of my mothers (the rest New England or New Jersey and Bucks
I have a John Allen, born about 1808 in Delaware, based on info in the 1850
Fayette County, Ohio census. I have been unable to find any info on his
parents or siblings, or how he got to Ohio from Delaware. A family story
says that his family originally came from New York/New Jersey area, came to
Delaware for a while, and then came to Ohio about 1810-1820 by way of
Pennsylvania, traveling with several related families. Some settled in the
area east of Washington Court House, some south east of Washi
That is the coat of Arms I have, but saveing it from the front of that book
has it pretty dark.
I don't know if it is mine, since I've only got back to John Alewin/Allen b.
abt. 1648 m. Francyn Alburtus. The moved from N.Y. to Somerset Co. N.J.
Does anyone know more about them, back?

Hi Thanks to Mrs Shoemaker's 2 volume genealogy of the Van Buskirk family I have access to a lot of data, some of which I submitted to her in the first place. She and I exchanged a lot of info from 1958 until her death 1988. Her son published her work 1990. It was still a work in progress, it would never be complete. I so far do not find your Charles Andrew or Charles Henry. There are hundreds of Lawrences. I can give you an over view of the family. I also know of one Allen m Van Buskirk family.
M. Corridon......you might try following the Ethan Allen line. I went to
that area a couple of years ago, and there was a home there of Ethan Allen's.
His family was all over CT. He then went on to VT. J. Finn
