I looked up your Snelgroves and Pearmans in the book I alluded to in my posting and didn't find much, but here it is for what it's worth. I am researching Anderson Peter Marshall Miles b. 1820, Dallas Co., AL. who married Hester Jane Morris who was born 1825, N. C. Anderson was the son of John Miles who later lived in Macon Co., Al. I'm looking for ANY Joel BAILEY who could be the father of Albert BAILEY b 1824. Word of mouth has it that Joel lived in Lowndes Co, AL. There is a Joel there in the 1850 census living with a possible sister Elizabeth BUCKHOLTZ (may also be BUCKLES). This census claims he was from SC. The 1850 Lowndes Co. census, p. 187, lists a household headed by William Dukes, age 66, b. SC, with members of the household being Lianna, Alice, Edna, Ransom, Wilson and Mary. Richardson BLAKE is thought to have been b. about 1800 in Elbert Co., GA, son of John BLAKE and his wife Martha MOON. Have long Blake line. He left his family in Bibb Co., AL, and went to Montgomery (later in Lowndes) Co. where he m. about 1824 Elizabeth WOOD, dau. of Green and Mary WOOD of Lowndes Co. Does anyone know anything about the Hugh Wilson, 65 in 1850, that began in Montgomery Co and purchased land in Lowndes Co from about 1829 to 1837? His family data, etc? I have the 1850 census so have that info but I'm interested in other info about the family. Did this Hugh Wilson of Lowndes Co have siblings, who were his parents, etc. My ancestor is Hugh Wilson of Chambers Co, AL 1842-1887 whose father we think is John, 69, 1850 Chambers Co census but then John disappeared and no trace has been found.

Does anyone know of the Ash Creek Baptist Church in Gordonsville, Lowndes Co., Alabama? And if so, do you know who might have the records from it when it was active back in the mid 1800's? The land was donated by David Gordon and his wife, Lucy W. Harrison.
