If a mother died 1859-1860 in Macon Co Alabama leaving a husband and 3 chn under age 6, would her husband have been required to file for legal guardianship of his children?
If the father of these chn died before 1870 when they were under age 15, would there be guardianship proceedings required?

I found the death certificate for Robert W(atts)
HUGGINS. He was my grandfather. He was married to Della Spruell HUGGINS.

Is there anybody out there who is willing to do an obituary lookup on my
uncle, RICHARD H. ALTON who died May 28, 1955 in Macon Co.? Family oral
history says that he died in a horrible accident involving an automobile and
a telephone booth? My uncle, Richard ALTON, was supposedly in the telephone
booth that was hit by a car. If this is true I would assume that there would
be an article in the local newspaper??? Many thanks to anyone that can help
me with this. I live in the Winston-Salem
