Well All, I received my book on Sat. It is big, It is very interesting, haven't read all of the articles about my family yet. I did find a mistake. ON page 282, there is a picture at the top left . It says this is Sara Catherine Williams Harbuck Digby. THAT IS A MISTAKE. THE PICTURE IS ACTUALLY THAT OF CORA ALETHA BOOKER WILLIAMS HODGE. SHE WAS THE SECOND WIFE OF WARREN WILLIAMS. I just want to thank Pat Greathouse and all her staff . There were so many things that happened from the beginning of this, but t

Sandra,
I agree with everything you stated and I know that all the work that goes
into creating a Heritage Book or any book as far as that, Is hard work.
However, Genealogy is hard enough as it is with all the errors we continue to
accept. As much as the heritage Book costs I think we shouldn't condone or
accept anything
less than they would expect from us.
When they have writing in Black and white (speaking of print and not color)
there shouldn't be blatant errors.
Someone should accept the blame fo
Thank you for the responses. I've been very busy with work and travel, but could not "close the book" on this one without setting the record straight.
- I repeat what I said in my orig email, that I appreciate having my family story placed in the book. I do appreciate the work that went into the book. It was a massive undertaking.
- I still hope that greater accuracy & care goes into future books as they are historical records for generations yet to come.
- In my original email I did not say my Gr gran
I am seeking information on the family of William PITTS and Mary SOLOMON.
Mary was born in 1858 possibly in Dale County Alabama. She was enumerated in
the household of her father Rev. John Wesley SOLOMON in 1870 in Seale,
Russell County Alabama. Living in Montgomery during the War Between the
States. William's family may have founded Pittsview or Pittsburg Alabama.
They were probably married in the 1870s. If anyone knows anything about
Mary's siblings Emmett W., who are his children. William M. born in 1860
Does any one have a Mary Parthenopy Reese in their datafiles.
She would have been my gr-gr-gr- grandmother. I have she married Rev.
Benjamin W.Clark ,17 Apr. 1827, That is all I have on her. I do know that
they had several children, I also have those names, and that they married in
and with the Kimbroughs and Rees/Reeses, which is my connection to. But that
was on my Reese side, Her daughter was (my gr-gr ) grandmother, Mary Jane

From my ancestors in Salam, Alabama, both paternal and maternal were born in

clinging to Genealogy for two hundred years each generation after the other saw

Hello list
I too received my Russell County Heritage Book after a more than 2 year wait. I'm pleased to see my ancestors names in print, however, I was grief stricken to see the under-representation of Afro Americans. I glanced the book over, but only saw 2 pictures of Afro Americans. And my article was changed. My Gr Grandmother's picture was sent in, but not included. My Gr Gr Gr Grandmother's birth date was shown as 1870 when it was 1815. (I know because of several documents I have, including the
Pam,
I received my ancestor's County Book from another County and there were
several errors in my families alone. and I am white.
I have never seen a County History Book 100% correct., My Missississippi
County Book, again had several errors written about my ancestors, alone.
I am sure the color of your skin had nothing to do with the errors. If you
would talk to others you might see there were errors in the white ancestors ,
as well
I know you are disappointed, but that is no reason to start po
P.S. I live in Columbus, Ga. and most of my maternal and paternal ancestors
are all from
Lee and Russell Counties, Alabama. The rest from Mississippi. This is why I
answered Pam's email. My roots are in Alabama and so are my husband's
family.

I had asked about Pat Greathouse, this was sent to me by Delilah Evans.
I take a lot of small town newspapers and it was in The Phenix Citizen,
dated February 27, 2003
PATRICIA DODD GREATHOUSE
"April 26, 1935 - February 7, 2003
Phenix City resident Patricia Dodd Hreathouse died at the Columbus Hospice
House in Columbus, Ga.
Born in Columbus, she was the daughter of John Allen Dodd and Patricia
Josephine Murphy Dodd.

been in remission
You are correct. There are many mistakes in the book. I didn't think it
was because I was white though. They had a lot of material to go through
and as you said many hours. Even with the errors, I am happy to see it
in print.
