wfish, I know what you mean bout the Cemeteries not being taken care of. I am going to see what I can to about my ancestor's graves in Washington County Alabama. A Dentist bought the land for Deer Hunting and in the summer the grass, weeds and bushes are so high along with the snakes, so that you can't get in winter or summer. Hi all, Ledger Enquirer reporter Brad Barnes has written a two page article in today's Living section about Urban cemeteries - Clapp Factory Cemetery, the Nix cemetery at Buena Visa Road, the grave site of Samuel Cooper, and Shiloh cemetery. Does anyone recognize any of these names (mention below) McBrides and what line they are from. The names were take from a Cemetery inside of Fort Benning, Georgia. When they lived and died the area was a small town. Fort Benning didn't buy the land until later. My line is Joseph A. McBride who married Amanda White their daughter Sarah Effie "Sally" McBride married Hugh McKenzie. They lived in Russell and Lee County in Alabama and also in Muscogee County in Georgia. Hi folks, This Sunday, February 9th the descendants and all others interested will meet at 1:00 pm et at the Clapp Cemetery in Columbus, GA. Our local newspaper, The Ledger Enquirer is to do a series on "Urban Cemeteries". If all goes as planned, this cemetery will be one featured in Sundays paper. Hi all, Today at 1:00 we are having a meeting at the Clapp Cemetery in Columbus, GA. The cemetery is located by the beginning of the Columbus Riverwalk at Oliver Dam. The Ledger Enquirer was scheduled to have an article on "Urban Cemeteries" today. I guess it got bumped, but it will be run soon or later. Anyone in the Muscogee and Russell County know what is going on with the Helicopters? I live close to the Muscogee County Airport and there are many Helicopters headed that way. last night while eating at "Sonny's Bar-B-Que" over by Targets, at least thirty flew over. I am a new subscriber to the Upson County, Georgia and Russell County, Alabama lists and have the task of scanning and trying to translate a few letters written during the Civil War. Most all of the letters were written by people with Upson County, Georgia and Russell County, Alabama interconnected famlies during the period of about 1861 to 1864.
