My paternal great grandmother, Leonie LAMMENS, was born Sep 1875 in
Alsace-Lorraine. She entered New York, USA on 8 Apr 1896, port of departure
Antwerp, ship Friesland, destination Paterson NJ where she was to be
employed as a servant.
She married John B. DEHOOGE/DHOOGE, born Apr 1869 Antwerp Belgium, between

children were found in a 1910 census for the Township of Little Falls,

FYI, the village of Gro_rosseln has had its

the entry in the online LDS Family History

I might have another clue to locating where Lorenz Husser was born in
Alsace. Maria Catherine Husser (sister to Lorenz ) was born 1829 a native of
Alsace Germany. She died 1908 in New Orleans, wife of Abraham Miller
(Muller). States birth place, a large ink blot before ?Cfrants or
frantz Germany. Lorenz arrived Dec. 10, 1839 in New Orleans from Le Harve.
Abraham Miller was naturalized 1847-1847 in New Orleans and came from
Bavaria. Any ideas? Thank you.

My apologies to the Wingert genealogist! I forgot to change the subject
line when I used your e-mail to launch my own (rather than go to the site).
So sorry for any confusion!

Thanks to all who gave me advise on searching in Sundhoffen. I will
try again next week to see if I can find the marriage of my great great

For those interested I have a fairly large database of extracted events for this region. Just added were over 700 civil recorded deaths (1806-1871) for the village of Stundwiller.
During the next few days anyone seeking their ancestors in this area can write to me and I'll do a search of a couple of databases and my own FTM genealogy program. If you have knowledge of the village please include that and any info that will facilitate this research. As you know there are many people with the same names and

Bonjour Ewald,

I know the spelling is different but I wonder if there could be any relation

the spellings of names were changed along the way.

His parents were : August Marquardt and Juliane Kutzner. I dont know any

Mary,
While I have over 250 people with a combination of this surname, the oldest
going back to the mid+ 1600s, I don't have any that match your request.
Most of my research has been in the 17th and 18th centuries when it applies
to this surname. Schmitthaeusler is also to be found as one of the families
that emigrated to Russia in the early 19th century. I have a couple of
PIATZ in my FTM and they married into my cousin's family in ND. My cousins
line emigrated from Alsace via Russia. My Schmitthaeusl

Shirley,
Concerning the '' French Republican Calendar'' try the following calendar
converter at
http://www.calendarhome.com/converter/
Gregorian is the calendar system that we use today. To use the French
Republican Calendar, indicate a date, then click on the [Calculate] button
for that calendar system -- this will change the date in all the other

I am looking for anyone who has ties to any French GAUNY/GAUNEY line.
John (Jean) Napoleon GAUNY was born in France ... presumably Alsace-Lorraine
area ... in about 1825. In 1830 he came to the United States as a young
5-year old boy. Family lore implies he came with an older married sister
(possible first name Marguerite) but her married name is unknown making it
close to impossible to find his immigration record.
He made a stop in Tennessee for a few years, and by 1856 he went to Texas

I sent for a file from LDS of Marriages et Divorces ANXI and it was sent to our local LDS Family History Center. I went in and looked at it and I found the following:

Schmitt Jean George g Mars
Schmitte Anne 1826
Schmitte Madeloune 1826
I paid for three times renting and then the film would stay at the local LDS Family History Center.
I should go back in and look at the film again.
Could there be another name that they used for Jacob or Jacob could have change

I am looking for any information on Jacob 'Jacob' Schmidt/Schmitt/Smith
born 20 oct 1827 Alsace/Lorraine France (Answella, France) and died 2

I have a copy of when his Widow applied for a pension and the document

click on that; click on place search and enter Borny. You get the following
