Loftin: Eldridge, Margaret, Sam Jr. Shelton: Elisha, John E., Israel, John, R. R., Robert R., Faulkner: Jabal, Jabel, James Davis. Mary Margaret, There are about 20 different COCKRELL's listed but no Wiley, Mary or Samuel. There is a W. J. married to Millicent Grice. There is a Mary Cockrell on the 1840 Sumter Census. Also a Mary S. Cockrell on the 1850 Sumter Census. On the 1850 Assessment of Taxes on Real Estate, Sumter Co., pg 19, lists a Cockrell, W. I. (that's all I know.) But no Mary listed, maybe renting? From a CD set, there are marriages for: Samuel Cockrell to Elizabeth Newton, 15 Aug 1835, Greene Co., AL. S

21. Re: [ALSUMTER] MAY, SANDERSON, DAVIDSON, SAXON [0.987985]
Betty, I think this info was from Brad Campbell who has a good deal on the Rushing tree. My interest was in Mariah Johnson who married William R. Rushing 1833-1890. William Rushing 1786-1850, parents were John Paul Rushing 1755-1812 and Temperance J. May, b. 1758, d. 22 Aug 1837. With this May connection I would guess a brother or other close relative of Temperance's. Hope you can use this, Tony "bclifton65" wrote: >I have a copy of a legal document from Sumter Co., regardin
