Kay, your parcel description may be incomplete, but if it is complete, that
would be the SouthEast Quarter of the SouthWest Quarter of Section 7, Range
12 North, Township 11 East of the St Stephens Meridian, in Wilcox County.
That location would be in the Northeastern corner of Wilcox County, in a
area just north of where Snow Hill is located. Section 7 is located due
north of State Highway 21, and due east of County Highway 57 and 59,
bordering Blue Creek. At one time, the Louisville and Nashville Railroa
Mr. Sanders,
My guy, John Ruple, got land in NESE 7, 12N, 11E (Wilcox) St.
Stephens meridian. Do you know anything about this individual or how to
trace this description back to the original grant? Or can you refer me
to anyone in Wilcox who knows this process of grantor/grantee well
enough to tell me if John Ruple ever took possession of this land and
when and to whom he might have deeded this land to someone else? He got
his grant in 1837 according to BLM records.

The land you are looking for is in the extreme eastern part of Wilcox
County. If you have an Alabama road map, locate Snow Hill and then look about 1 1/2
to 2 miles directly north. It is also about 2 miles south of the Dallas
County line. West of Furman. You can order an excellent map from the Alabama
Department of Transportation for either 50 cents or $1.00 that will show
townships and ranges as well as known cemeteries. I have one for almost every county
in Alabama. The address for DOT is
Joe,
Are you familiar at all with the area Kay references? I am
looking for John Ruple who got a land grant in 1837 for the same section
of land. Do you happen to know anything about this person? Or about
someone who might have info on graveyard listings or especially land
records for this section of land so I can determine if John Ruple ever
took possession of his land per the Bureau of Land Management records in
sec 7 no. of Snow Hill?

Saw your response on the Wilcox County message board. My g'grandfather,
Thomas S. Norris was married to Cynthia Mathews in Wilcox County in 1865,
and the person officiating was G. W. Albritton. Thomas was a veteran of the
Civil War. He and Cynthia had one son born in Alabama, then moved to
Choctaw County Mississippi before 1869. Would like to know if you know any
more about this family, or if they had any connection to the Albritton
family. Thank you for your help.
