What you say means that she would be a step-child of Charles Nazelrod, head of household. She very likely is the daughter of Amanda Snider by a Parker. Nazelrod did not adopt her, but did raise her. So all of the children of the union of Nazelrod and Snider would be her half-siblings.

Hi,
I agree Tonia. I did some researh a few years ago that took me into the
court records of VA in the 1700's. While searching for my relative I read
page after page of these documents. If an unmarried woman got with child she
would be jailed untel she either named the father or... her relatives
stepped in and said they would support the illigiment child.
THe likely hood that her relative was a blood child of either a male or
female in the household is at least 80%. Personally I would look for court
Hi,
I'm surfing family trees on rootsweb, looking for families with roots to the Breitungen area. I came across this Breitungen family, with Hessian roots. Thought I'd pass it on for the archives:

And if any of you have roots back to Herrenbreitungen, Altenbreitungen, and Frauenbreitungen (the 3 towns are now the 1 town of Breitungen) and surrounding communities, there is a reunion Sunday, July 2, 2006 by Seattle, WA, USA. It wi

This was 1777, not 1776.

I found this message of unusual interest. Recently I found a Wilhelm
Lochmann, Hessian, who was captured by a Hartman Leitheiser somewhere in
Berks Co, PA. Hartman's surname is pronounced just like the 2 spellings in
the subject line. The town locations might be of help to me in locating
where Hartman Leitheiser came from before the Revolution. As for Wilhelm
Lochman his name was on the plaque that John Merz presented on his last
trip to Germany. I must check the website to see if I sent in the info.
Nelda,
Looks like Armin is searching for Jacob Hachenberger. There are several
references to him in the archives. Do you have an e-mail address for Armin?
He can go to the following link and have his German request for info
translated to English for posting on the list.
http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/wiki/Transserv
Likewise, our archive records can be translated via the same service, and we
can forward the German translations to Armin.

Hi Carol,
Can you tell us a little about him... Like where he lived and why you think
he was a Hessian? Give us as much fact about him as you can... then the
family rumors?? But if you don't have it documentated tell us it is
unproven..
Just a name doesn't help much..
By the way Welcome to the list

I'm hoping one of you can help find a needle or two in the haystack.
Oral tradition gives several interesting clues about our Hessian ancestor, but we don't know his surname. (Riggleman and Ray/Rae are two of the four possibilities, but neither of those names show up in John Merz' lists of Hessians)
My G3Grandfather (a "Riggleman") claimed that his GGrandfather was a Hessian soldier. As the story goes, the Hessian had a congenital foot deformity - a club foot. He served as a cook, was captured by Washing

I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction.
I am thinking there must be articles on a web site that goes into how long
the passages were from Germany to North America and the conditions on the
ships etc.
Your help would be appreciated.
