Hello Wilma, I am glad I was able to help. It was not the census takers that got the name wrong, I could tell by looking at the census "knowing the name" that is was Groves and not Crover, but it was hard to read. I don't know what to tell you about Lizzie being Mary or Martha, but Lizzie is a nickname for Elizabeth. Are you sure she was Mary and not Martha ? Maybe someday you will find out for sure. Is there a census record online for Izard Co. ARK? I am trying to find the married daughter of my Samuel Smith.. Several of you sent his family census record, but I know there was a daughter that married and lived there also.
