In the late 1800's/early 1900's 4 of my relatives, (FRANKLIN (FRANK) PAT NEFF b. 1856 and SEYMOUR NEFF, WILLIAM NEFF & ROBERT NEFF) worked as Brakemen, Firemen & Engineers on the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern ( S.L.& I.M S.) railroad. They lived some/most of the time in Little Rock Arkansas. Frank, my GG Grandfather also appears to have lived in Commerce Texas and Shawnee Oklahoma. He married LULA WOOTEN.

Sam,
I am no railroad expert, but I do have an interest. My great granfather was a fireman on the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad. He was killed in his early 20's in a collision involving 2 trains in Little Rock about 1902.
I havn't traced the cities you mention, but I'm wondering if you know your great grandfather travelled by train? It appears that the Little Rock & Memphis Railroad was the first railroad in Arkansas, "a company which held the distinction of operating over the first railroad trac
My Great-grandfather, William James Orme, traveled from TN to TX in May,
1860. His last letter was from Bolivar, Ark. What railroad route would he have
taken? Would he have visited his kin in Crawford, Co., Ark?
Any help appreciated. Sam Orme

Hi everyone,
This is to let you know that you need to be on the lookout for viruses.
The BadTrans is going around again (still??) and, earlier, I had to remove 2

I do not want this to now become the topic of discussion. If you want, you
can e-mail me privately on this. I have, as of this evening received 4
infected e-mails, from 3 different people, so it is VERY important that we
do discuss this now. But please remember if you want to discuss it further,

this is one of them. Can someone please e-mail the Server # that this list is
sent from? It is located at the bottom of the e-mails in about the 4th line. I

I know that a lot of you really enjoy the occasional chats held at
ArkansasFamilies.net, and I have been thinking that since we don't always
have time for them, and since no time is convenient for everyone, that
perhaps we should create a mailing list to make up for that.
A place to share genealogy info, tips, hints, personal histories,
anecdotes, and any information you may want to share. Discussing of all
