I saw this site on another list. Great basic information
on Alabama counties. It can maybe help some people new

Hey ya'll...when I was in Clark County last month, I did attempt to read the
Gurdon Newspapers on microfilm. ugh...what a task! Anyway, I printed a few
pages of it that had my Tillman info on it, and on these same pages there was
several mentionings of other people of course. I'm happy to share.

Hi. I'm new to this list, and I thought I'd post my surname interests in
case there are any connections.
I'm researching the WILSON, MCFADDEN, ELDER families who were in Clark
County from about 1853. James WILSON was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister
in Arkadelphia. He married (1) Mary Priscilla HASSELL and (2) Ruthie Ann
NELSON or Saline County. His children who survived to adulthood were:
1. Ann m (1) Isaac Ewing McFADDEN and (2) Robert Joshua ELDER, Sr.
2. William Henry
3. Priscilla m William GAITHER
I am trying to identify the parents of my paternal grandmother, Frances Beda
Williams, who married my grandfather, Nathan Henry Jones, in Arkadelphia on
May 14, 1877. The service was performed by Rev. James F. Shaw a Baptist
minister. By 1880 they had moved to what became Cleveland County and the
census for that year stated that her parents were born in Alabama. She had
an uncle name Alex Williams. Any help in identifying her parents will be
appreciated. Thanks.
