I want to thank all of you who wrote and
really helped me, re: finding an e-mail
address in Piggott.
I ended up being put in touch with a
Piggott historian who remembered me
as a child! Her name is Camilla Cox
and she is going to do some research
for me.
The names I am researching in Piggott
are: Thornton, Moore, Robbins, Sanders,
Brown, Belch, Taylor, Hicks.
Is anybody else researching these names? If so perhaps we can exchange
info. I don't have much since I am just
starting out. However, I did ru
This is new, so there may be a bug or two. I noticed the link to the Clay
Co. site is not up yet, but it should be corrected soon.
There is a new resource, Classified Ads Boards, that can now be found from a
link on the cluster page for our county. As you know the Cluster page
serves
as a navigation aid to all resources for the county housed on RootsWeb. The

Hi everyone,
Most of you have probably heard the LDS Church is distributing copies of
it's genealogical program, Personal Ancestral File version 4 at it's
website, for
*FREE*. You can get it at this site...
http://www.familysearch.org/OtherResources/paf4/
I just downloaded it and put Gedcom in from Family Tree Maker to test it.
Everything went well. There were some errors, apparently PAF does not
recognize the data added to your FTM files from the FTM CD's. Other than
that, it looks good, notes & all

Killing in Clay County.
======================
Piggott, July 1. - Will MYERS is cold in death and Frank WOLF is
confined in jail as the result of a difficulty which took place between
them in a temperance saloon in Greenway at noon today in which MEYERS
was stabbed four times in the heart, causing instant death. WOLF is the
son of a respectable farmer and is only 19 years old. MYERS was a
respectable citizen. [It is Myers and Meyers in the newspaper.]
Awhile back, I was inquiring about the John W. BAKER family. Since then,
I've found a little more info on them, but am still seeking more. In 1870,
John W. BAKER was listed as head of household in Bradshaw Twshp. He had a
small slew of BAKERS living with him, whose relationship was not stated. I
went back and found the family in Gibson Co., TN up until at least 1850.
They may have lived in MO before going to Ark., but pretty much the whole
family ended up in Clay Co. Maybe someone has info on so
One set of my great-great grandparents were Robert F. ELKINS (b:Feb. 14, 1848
in TN;d:Feb.4, 1929 in Clay Co.) and his wife Ellen Lou . She was born Dec. 12, 1852 in NC and died Aug. 29, 1929 in Clay Co.
They are both buried at Cummins Chapel Cemetery.
Anyway, I'm looking for a connection between this family and the WEBSTERS.
My mom thinks that Webster was Lou's maiden name, but she can't remember for
sure. Buried beside these two at Cummins Chapel (beside her actually) is a

Does any one on this list know if Lawrence Co. and Sharp Co. have
an Email list?
Also, does any know where Union Township was 1830-1834 in
Lawrence County? Did this part of Lawrence County later become
part of Sharp County?

Okay, I figure this will be my last query for awhile. These things all hit
me at once, so I have to get it out of my system. This one is for my other
BAKER line. The one I actually get my last name from. This branch of BAKERS
seemed to flip-flop back and forth across the St. Francis River every chance
they got. Presumably, to throw me off their trail. Over all, I think they
were in Clay Co. more often. Here's what I know:
My grandpa was Joseph "Jody" Allen BAKER; b: March 16, 1896 in AR.(I thin
