At Fort Smith Arkansas in 1850 census there's a Capt. Thomas Lewis showing age 37 m. to REbecca. Has Mikel's and Deharts in the household.
In Cole Co, Choctaw Nation is another Thomas age 36 with WJ Mickel in the house.
The initial research shows the Fort Smith Thomas to be descended from the John Lewis/Liddia Warner line.
Does anyone have more?

In my studies of Sebastian County, Washington County and Fort Smith I've read where Captain John Rogers was among the very first settlers in Sebastian Co and was accredited for founding Fort Smith. It goes on to state he was from Louisiana.
Can anyone tell me more about him?

Hello List,
I am new to the list and trying to find out where ARP, ARKANSAS is located.
One of my ancestors was born there about 1849 and the family said it was in
the North Western part of AR, but I can't find information on it anywhere
and I need a county in order to search for my SMITH surname.
Hoping somebody has heard of the place,
Flora
Is this the same John Rogers who married Elizabeth "Betsy" Zachary in Hempstead County in 1832 ?

And I'm sure you're aware that Sebastian County is newer than Fort Smith? So you also need to check in Crawford County, prior to when Sebastian formed.

Hello to all,
I am searching for any connections to the family of Robert Sumner INGRAM who died Maricopa, Scottsdale 2002, I am researching the HINKS connection in the family.
Many thanks Toni in NZ
Hi Flora:
I have heard of this town, I believe my Grandmother spoke of it. Now you need to write to a company that deals with towns that no longer exists.

Shucks, even Google couldn't find an Arp, AR for me. Since your ancestor was born in AR there have been many census takings, so why not search for this
person in those early ones.. say, 1850-60 or even 70. Seems likely they would have still been with parents. Unless the parents moved to another state this might work? If you post the persons name and other relatives you already know, someone may be able to help with out the location at first.
