For those research the COX family,
I have been writing the history of the Cox family in Polk and Montgomery
Counties for the past year. Almost every issue of The Mountain Signal has a
3 to 12 page history, and it is still ongoing. I expect to finish with the
old timers in the July issue, and move on to the current Coxes and the
connecting families.
There were THREE Cox families in Polk County, and as for as I can tell they
were NOT connected. I've written the history of two of them. The third
family se
Does anyone know if the Overturf Cemetery is on line? I
need to get some dates for my ancestors. Or does anyone
have a list of the names or dates?
Thanks,

I wish I could say I had but I have not. This has been a hard line to follow
since I have so little to go one. The uncle Jack you mention, what was his
full name? Look forward to hearing from you again.

I just discovered for sure hat my gggrandmother was Emma Sullivan b. abt
1842 IL. (by census info). Her daughter had a Lewis or Sewis age 23
Sullivan (I can't read it) living with her family in Hot Springs Ar in 1900.
So this is all I know. Except my gggrandmother married Frederick Holt from
Prussia. Hoping to find where she fits into a Sullivan family. Thanks

Dear Glenda,
I have not started on my Allen branch of the family, but my father's mother
was Anna Alzie ALLEN. She married Milton M. RICHARDSON sometime around
1890 - the first child was born in 1893 and my father wash born in 1898. I
am starting to look for ways to start on the ALLENS. I don't know her
father's name. I think she and my grandfather married in Sevier County, but
it may have been that they married in Howard County and moved to Sevier
County and then on to Polk County. Anna Alzie died in
Cherry Hill community--Polk County, Arkansas.
The name of the Cherry Hill community was at one time Egger, for the Egger
family who operated the post office there. The name Cherry Hill was given
to the community because of a huge cherry tree which stood near the road.
Some of the first settlers were the Harrisons and the other families which
came with them on the wagon train.
There were three wagon trains which came to Polk County about the same time,
1834, and the people from these trains settled in thre

To Shirley,
Thank you so much for your help. It was so nice of you to take the time to
send those websites to me. I really appreciate it.
I would also like to thank some more folks on the list that have been
helpful to me.
Recently, while searching for lost URLs, I ran across a very interesting
site. I was very impressed with it. It is a computerized marriage lookup.
You can find it at:

Thanks again,

Would any of you folks have Mena Ark. or Polk Co. URLs that you could share

Thank you so much,

Hi -
Are you researching the Overturf's? I have a great-aunt by marriage whose
mother's
maiden name was Overturf. My great-aunt, now deceased, made a journal for her
daughter in 1968 which has been photocopied and given to me. It helped me
immensely with my Sullivan research. Bessie Lorena (Winfield) Sullivan was my
great-aunt, her mother's maiden name was Mittie Ollie (Overturf) Winfield -
the wife of
