Searching for great grandma "Sarah Ann (Parker)(Smith) Collins" born 1847 in
Honey Creek, Crawford Co.,IL and married (date and place unk) William Collins
born 1853 in KY. After my great grandpa Jackson Smith died in 1885 in
Crawford Co.,IL. Sarah Ann & William Colllins removed to Monmouth, Polk Co.,
AR about 1889. I found them on 1900 Cove Twp, Polk Co., AR census with 18
year old f. Olivia last name? Although Olivia was born in IL census has KY
as her mother's birthplace so she must be Sarah's step
Hi Linda,
Have you tried the Soundex? I had some relatives in Polk Co.
in 1900. I looked at the census twice trying to find them, but
there are some areas on that film that seem damaged by
excess light. Someone suggested to me that the people
doing the soundex had sometimes used the original records,
so I searched the soundex and there they were. When I went
back to the film and had a copy made of the appropriate spot,
we darkened it as much as possible and could faintly see
enough to tell that the names w
I probably am going to have to do a quick restore on my computer. A KAK worm came in an has corrupted a lot of my disk data. If you want to stay in my address book, please write me back in about two days after the computer technician comes in and clears this problem up.
I do not have the VIRUS now, as it has been cleared out, but is still causing me problem to data.
Thanks,

My Family Tree needs "Ornaments".............
Hi Georgia,
Yes, I still have relatives especially around Gillham and Hatfield. My family
was there for years.
I too collect references from that area but do not have the 1880 census from
Polk county, as yet. I am researching all three of the counties mentioned,
Howard, Polk and Sevier. My family names are Stinnett, Davis, Wafford, Parker.
Anna Spencer was researching the Davis family, my grandmother was Mabel Davis,
daughter of Levi Davis, who was son of Capt Sam Davis owner of the Zinc mine in
Polk Co
Hi List- could any one give me direction to the polk county fairgrounds? I
am researching the Risenhoover family and understand that Andy Risenhoover
wasa Rodeo Promotter through the fair. I also understand that his name is on
the rodeo area? how is that read? does any one know of Andy Risenhoover,
would the fair grounds have a picture of him from earlier years, when he was
promoting the rodeo?? Andy Risenhoover was a nephew of my Grandmother Mittie
Caves: Nee Risenhoover. Would appreciate any help.
If there is anyone that can give you any information on the Daltons in the
Cecil Cemetery, it would be Dolan and Cleon Daniel in Vandervoort, Arkansas.

Hi Jeanie,
On a Physician Records, would they maybe list a death, if they attended
to the person?
Sounds like it might be some help.

cant get there, live in california.. Need help with information on Andys past
employment and or history with the rodeo In Polk county Arkansas. Melodee

The address for Polk County records is
Polk County Courthouse
507 Church Street
Mena, AR 71953
The County Clerk's office is (501)394-8115.
A courthouse fire in 1883 caused some lost records. The County Clerk's
office has marriage records 1884-present. My understanding is that
birth records are available only from the state, and I doubt that they
go back as far as 1865. The County Clerk's office does list Physician
Records 1889-present - which might have births but won't help on your
1865 date.
Good luck,
JL, I didn't find either of those names on the credentials list I did a few
years ago. These were filed in a book labeled "Marriage Book 1881-1888" and
contained very few marriages but had ministers credentials up into the early
1900's. I only went thru 1900. But your names weren't listed. Sorry.
Wanda

Cynthia, I had mine come through an email message. I had the McAfee Virus
shield, and it alerted me to "ActiveX" virus, but my McAfee Virus shield
program was outdated, and did not know how to get rid of the KAK worm virus,
and even though I deleted the message completely, it did not shield my
drivers and programs.
I would recommend everyone who has genealogy programs to store them in a
"Save driver" (like mine was "driver D") so if this happens, they have
access to their familytrees. The "Quick Restore"

I would like to know if this info is available also. I had a Shadrack J.
Moore there and possibly John Wesley Goodwin.
Hello Wanda....could you check the credentials for ministers and see if
there is a listing for Francis Marion BEAVER. He was a traveling minister
out of the Rocky area of Polk Co.
If and whenever you have the time. I would appreciate the help.

Does anyone have an address where I can write to to get birth certificate
copies and marriage license copies for Polk County. Are all records still
intact or has there been damage or loss to some documents? I want to get a
copy of the birth certificate for my great grandmother who was born Sept 7,
1867. There is confusion on whether her middle name was Jane or Jean.
Sarah J Hamby
Melodee,
I have a Mena phone book and the phone number for Andy Risenhoover is
(501) 394-3910.
The fairground is easy to find. Do you want directions to it or phone
and address? The Polk County Fair Association's phone number is
394-7970.
Directions to the fairgrounds: From Highway 71 through Mena there is
a road called Fairgrounds Road. Just turn there and go right to the
fairgrounds.
Hope this is helpful.

Hi again Sandi: Got your e-mail. The last address I had for Anna Spencer
was
Anna Spencer
1710 N. E. 34th
Paris, TX 75460
Do you know if that is her current address? I'd like to contact her.
I'd sure like to see a picture of Margaret McCraven Overturf Davis. I would
assume that Margaret must have ben married to ??? Overturf prior to her
marriage to Asa Davis, since she had George Overturf, 4 with her on the 1870
Polk Co. Census. John Ward that is listed there was an orphan, and later
married Mary Ann/
