Dear Friends on the Ashby List,
This posting has little to do with our shared fascination with Ashby
genealogy, but it deals with a major challenge to the Family, so I thought
that this would be an appropriate forum to inform as many Ashbys as possible
about it, and to ask your help.
As you may know, the birthplace and longtime home of Brigadier General
Turner Ashby, CSA, is a beautiful old house located in Markham, Virginia.
Rosebank was a place the general loved very much--in fact, when his

Hi Julia,
Did you see the posting on Tue. 17 Aug from cander9267@aol.com looking
for info on William Ashbee and Julia Spencer? These are New Jersey

Hey, I see a message on genforum with Rose's last name as Farrow. I've
never heard this from anyone else, just speculation about her possibly being
Rose Berry. Anyone know of this?
Thanks for your help!

Andrea,
Thanks for telling us about this. And yes, I do consider it a genealogy subject. It's the heritage of the Ashby's of VA.
I was under the impression that, a residence that has been placed on the National Register had a certain amount of acreage around it that could not be
tampered with, also. Am I wrong? If so, and if this tower is going to interfere with the historical ambience of the home, I would think that the law
could be called into effect for this.
Maybe some out there with some expertise cou
