Phil,
Do you have any later info on your Atkinson line? I am stuck in 1868 with Martha Jane Atkinson b 28 May 1868 in
Chesterfield County, SC?? (according to her death certificate) m John Wesley Turner b 7 Aug 1866 also supposedly in
Chesterfield County d 25 Jan 1925 in Anson County, NC buried in Chesterfield.
Know this area was in the 'disputed' area and they could have been in either state at the time. :)
I have nothing on her parents that I can prove. It has been said she was the daughter of Jeremiah Atk

I have seen the Cooper line in my research, but can't place any direct ties
to my line yet.
I have a copy of a recent publication called "The Pridgen Family of St.
Mary's Parish Old Egecombe County, North Caroina with Allied Families"
compiled by Plummer Alston Jones,Jr.; 1998
In this book there are over 200 Coopers in the index and tons of Mannings as
well. I saw several Cooper / Manning connections, but if you can give me
some names and dates I would be able to look through it with more success.

Donna - This is interesting. I just replied to Mark (via this list) about
my Lucinda Adkins/Atkins. Paducah, KY is VERY VERY close to Pope County, IL
and Massac County. I was down there this past summer doing some research.
As I mentioned in my letter to Mark, I found a will of Henson D.
Atkinson/Atkins
where he leaves everything to the children of Lucinda (Adkins/Atkins) Alsman.
I know Lucinda was born in TN as well. I wonder if this Henson is a
relative and
if he was from TN too.

nearly his whole family is a brick wall to me.
They came to America in 1820, arriving in Baltimore, Maryland. before 1850
they are in Lancaster Co., PA and Robert and Mary (Aitken) Atkinson are
buried there in Woodward Hill cemetery.
I have found some of the descendants of their 12 children, but there are
questions as to whether the entire family came to America (some of the
children had families of their own in England) and where they all went to.
yes, I'm interested in his ancestry, as well. one family st
Donna,
This is wonderful news. I am grabbing at anything I can at this point. I am
willing to check out every clue. Lord knows my Sarah has been such a mystery
thus far. Maybe this will be the needle in the haystack I have been looking
for. Will keep you posted.

Maryellen,
Seeking information on Richard and Howell Atkinson and their families of
Darlington Co., SC. I am also looking for information on Richard Atkinson
(born c.1767, d. c 1854) and wife Elizabeth who lived in Darlington Co., SC.
They and son Howell F. Atkinson were members of the Welsh Neck Baptist
Church at Society Hill, SC till 1830 and Antioch Baptist Church from1830 to
1850s. Some of Richard's other children are believed to be Wiley, Frances,
Sarah (married a Tedder) and possibly Jeremiah. Howell
I am desperately searching for information on my gggrandfather, Taylor B.
Atkinson. He was a baker in Phila. according to 1850 census. He died in
1890 in Phila. I Need names of his parents and his spouse.
will greatly appreciate all help
Thanks, Ray

Hi,
My most wanted Atkinson right now is Thomas ATKINSON. He was bc 1714,
probably in VA. He married around 1733, again probably in VA, to Patience
???. What is her maiden name!? Some researchers list her maiden name as
Chapin, but there does not seem to be any sourcing for that. So, she is
*really* my most wanted person. Thomas died before 11 Apr 1771 in
Southampton Co., VA. At least that is when and where his will was! :) I
descend from his son Nathan, who married Martha "Patsey" Whitehead, an

Atkinson researchers,
I hate to violate Rebecca's rules right off, but my Atkinson "brick wall" is really two persons, father and son.
I have identified my GG Grandfather as John H. Atkinson. John H. Atkinson was born January 10, 1854 in Georgia, died March 26, 1928 in Alabama.
Additionally, from John's death notice, I learned that his parents were James Atkinson, born in GA, and Eliza Landrum, born in GA.
I first find John and his wife, Susan Harrison, in the 1880 Census of Henry County, GA.

Anne,
Your line sounds like it covers some of the same ground, and names, as
mine. My grandmother was a MANNING, whose mother was an ATKINSON. I
have a MANNING book that takes our line back to 1635 in NC. I didn't
find a PRIDGEN in the index, but it isn't intirely all-inclusive, I've
noticed.
Also, I just recently received some family group sheets from a COOPER
researcher in IL which includes an early PRIDGEN line with NC ties. I'm
still sorting through these, though, so will have to get back to you
If you own or can borrow a digital camera it is well worth the 25 cents for a
floppy that you can recycle to take 20 or more photos per floppy...then put
in PC and read...really a wonder!...very James Bond...Maryellen
Phil, Richard Atkinson fascinates me as he is mentioned several times in the
doings of family members or in-laws. Would you be willing to share info on
his progeny...esp any that went to GA and/or AL. Maryellen
