Thanks Gil. My daughter is always saying to me " read the manual, Dad!", but in this case I downloaded my PAF 5 program from the Internet and have no manual. I suppose what you are saying I need to understand files better. Yes I can access the paf file and see the information as a separate unit to my family tree progam information, but I want the paf file to be joined to my existing family tree information. If it is possible to make that step I can't seem to achieve it. Des. ----- Original Message ----- F

Robert, I'm getting nowhere fast. When I click on IMPORT the IMport Gedcom Window comes up. Look in is "My Documents", but the options available do not include the file I"m looking for. This is because it is saved as a PAF file. Although I believe the attachment was a GEDCOM file when it was saved it had to be saved as a PAF file. How on earth do I import it, Robert? I'm not all that computer literate and I seem to be going around in circles? Another kind person Carole suggested if the file extension is

Open PAF and on the top row go to FILE and click on OPEN 3. a new window will open asking you to name this file - in my case I call it TEMPORARY 4. then you will be asked the questions about name address etc. 5. you have finished you will be left with an EMPTY file 6. on the second top row about 2nd from the left i
