Hello Philippa I am descended from Maria and Robert. I have looked quickly in 'The Darug and their Neighbours' and could not find anything. But that does not mean they are not there or related. What else can you tell me about them? How do you know of them and the Lock family? I hope to hear from you soon Cheryl ----- Original Message ----- From: "Philippa Scarlett" To: Sent: Saturday, June 07, 2003 4:40 PM Subject: [AUS-Koori] Lock family > Does

15. [AUS-Koori] Lock family [1]
Hello Cheryl Thanks for searching for me I dont know much more about the brothers except that Roy died in the first World War although his death is recorded as Jack's - as they swapped names. I found their names listed with other Lock(e) soldiers including Jerome and Olga and thought the fact that they lived at Dolls Point and the name William could connect them to Maria and Robert's family. Cathie Under the various Protection of Aborigines Acts, the State Governments controlled the lives of Aboriginal people including their movements. In the case of NSW this was administered by the Aborigines Protection Board/Aborigines Welfare Board (1883-1969) - any records, files, etc. would be held with the NSW Department of Aboriginal Affairs; the following weblink refers to their 'Researching your family history' page: http://www.daa.nsw.gov.au/familyhistory/ Generally, to move around (under the Act

Hello Cathie I'm here. I've just returned from Canberra. I took a group of students for a three day excursion, the main reason was to visit AIATSIS. I have not been down since they moved into the new building. It is really great, if anyone gets the opportunity you really must go. We were there for the whole of one day and the students all said they would go back, some would take their older parents and family members. The staff are fantastic, they hovered all the time but were never intrusive just helpf

I'm a Lock, like Cheryl I couldn't find any of your names in the Darug book, but not everyone is in it. You could drop a line to:- D-T-A-C. P.O Box 441 Blacktown.2148 NSW. They have more records than in the book, so you might like to give them a go. Hope you find some info through there, lets know anyway.
