Hi I hope Ivan won't delete this, but as he has suggested a yahoo group, my Daughter and I already have one going, any one who is interested is welcome to join. The link is here for anyone. It is a great group and has been going for a couple of years, some of us have met already and some have become friends through the group.

I agree yayla this site has been very quiet as there is only so much
geneology one can tackle and you cant keep asking the same questions all the
time. It is a pity that we cant talk about some general topics on this site
as I am impressed by the amount of learned people that subscribe to
AUS-KOORI. Does anyone know of a site where we can have a good yarn, other
than the chat sites that is? It is good for indigenous issues to be
debated. But the webmaster will have something to say about that.
Anyway mu

Murrawari is as Des says north west - for example during my sojourn at
Goodooga learned that there are three main groups including Murrawari - new
book just released that would be good for you - need to check the name at
school - but a search on Tex Skuthorpe would get you there. Skuthorpes are
from Goodooga way.
It will take a couple of days to source the book but I will get back to you
on this.
Good luck

Hi Gerald and all,
It has been very quite for a long time. Gerald your not doing anything
wrong.
I'm sort of at a stand still with my research.
I'm still trying to connect my Elisabeth Ellis nee Heads or Smith to my
Ellen Ellis ( my GG Grandmother) Because there are no records its very
difficult. I'm now looking for living relatives who with luck may
remember something!
This is a long shot but dose any one know of a Betty V Rootsey nee

A source of published genealogical information in the Northern Territory is the reports of the Aboriginal Land Commissioner published by the Australian Government Publishing Service.
For instance Report Number 50 is titled "The Malngin and Nyinin Claim to Mistake Creek Land Claim No. 133 and was published in 1996. This report contains genealogies of all families involved in the Land Claim and when used in conjunction with other records at the National Archives in Darwin (eg Census records, 1960's) can be u
Thanks for speaking up sister girl re our discussions - interesting how the
genealogy side has been ever so dry for such a long time - yet when we have
our discussions it's hot to trot - I guess yarnin' is something we Kooris
need - no offence to anyone - and thanks Ivan for offering to set something
up - but this site has brought together people who may not have connected
otherwise - simply because it offered something for Koori people. I for one
miss our excellent discussions and agree that there are som

Mahiman,
I do have something to say ;-) I absolutely see the need for indigenous
discussion, and support everything you say.
I must however enforce Rootsweb policy on this list, for the sake of those
that are here for Rootsweb purpose - family history..
What I would suggest is that one of you start up a discussion group (maybe
in yahoo groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/ ) where the result will be a
mailing list just as this one - but you guys would have full control of
discussion topics (free for all if
Hey Ivan, I didn't mean to take anyone away from here, I belong to both groups, and this one is very important for research, our group is just a chat group, not for research, just a friendly group where we can talk about anything we want to, It's not just for Kooris, it's name is "kooris N Mates" we have lots of non Koori members, so you are very welcome to join us too, it's just a Friends group. So Please if anyone joins Please stay here for your researching, I have been a member here for a couple of years

Yayla,
I'm not that bad you know!! ;-)
If you already have a group going, then that's great. I hope that many of
you stay here as well - I know it can be quiet, but that doesn't cost
anything - and to be here when that one request which is related to your
background comes, is why this group exists.
This group, as I've said many times, is for family history - but that you
have somewhere for free speech is important too, and I will pass your link
on to anyone who starts to drift from family history in

Hello Maggi
It appears that the Murawari language area encompasses North-West NSW up
into South-West Queensland - there is some information available on the web.
(Some sources spell it as 'morowari'.)
Couldn't find an actual listing for Ullabulla (there may be different
spellings) - if it is from around Cunnamulla, there are several language
areas in that District.
A couple of options for seeking further information:

Still haven't seen the Darug book! Been dealing with some personal stuff -
I think my cuz was going to purcahse - I now have two cousins on board with
