There is a photograph of an Aboriginal World War 1 soldier S Cunningham at
the Australian War memorial. You can see this by going to www.awm.gov.au and
searching the Collection databases for P01069.001.
The service record of a Sydney Moses Cunningham Service Number 1501 is held
by the National Archives. In it he says he was born in Glebe NSW and he
gives Maud Sim as his next of kin.
I'd like to add Sydney Cunningham to a public list of Indigenous WW1
servicemen which the Bringing Them Home Team is creating

His face came to the forefront in 1974 when he helped those devastated by

In 1982 he was named Anzac of the Year and NADOC honoured him as Abori

Hello Trish
"Winanga Li" (Moree Mob Vol. 1) has a couple of references to TOOMEY:
On page 85, there is a photo of Stan Swan with his wife Jane (nee
TOOMEY) - Jane's parents are listed as Armery 'Army' TOOMEY [died
November 1975 and is buried in Wee Waa, NSW] and Elizabeth CLARK. It
also lists their children (Stanley jnr; Allen; Helen; Darryl; Godfrey;
Elizabeth; Judith Ann and Aubrey). Stan died in 1968 aged 56 while Jane
died in 1980 aged 67. If this info matches up, further details can be
obtained from
