he problem lies with Rootsweb, ALL rootsweb hosted lists are
having problems at the moment, seems the problem is in
their archiving software which is hanging on to some, but not
all, messages.
Just pot luck which ones get out, they are in the middle of
unjamming, hope that this does not mean a flood.
Cheers,

Yes very much off topic!

Hi Peter,
Many thanks indeed for your kind response to my enquiry regarding the entry
I had sent to the above magazine in my quest to trace my long-lost cousin.
I did receive one other response off-list but that was from a somewhat
disappointed reader whose wait for the appearance of a message has lasted
for several years. I desperately want to contact my cousin before she
passes-on in order to not only remake acquaintanceship with her, but also in
the hope of finding answers to several queries regardin
Mel,
Latest issue (September) came today and the column is not in it. I know the
Woman's Day has a similar column but don't have any details. Perhaps
someone else on the list may be able to advise you of these. Perhaps next
month will prover more fruitful. Another possibility is to try the
"Australian Senior" newspaper which is a monthly. I placed an add in it
this month for Women's Weekly covers. Their web site is

Hi All,
I have an interest in Ashley family in Melbourne.
Richard Ashley and Mary Barry had 3 children
Mary born 1852 died 1854 buried in Melbourne
Ralph Ashley born 1857 came to New Zealand married Lizzie Fitzell 1880 in Gisborne.
Johanna Ashley born 1868 married a Cameron. In 1910 in N.Z. she married Charles Matson.
If any of this ring any bells, I would be glad to hear from you.

About 1842, at age 20 Mary O"DOWD came to Melbourne as a 'bounty immigrant'
with her brother. They were Protestants and neither could read or write. I
have not found the records and do not know her brother's name, but I believe
they were from the county of Mayo in Ireland. Any suggestion for tracking
these down?
Mary lived in a slab hut for a while and then built a log cottage. She
married Patrick in Melbourne in 1847. After having six children she left
him and went with Gerry OWEN to Kerrie, in

Hi List,
I'm new to this list and I'm trying to find more about a William Chamberlain
who died at South Melbourne Hospital in 1881. If anyone has access to the
cemetary records for the area could they please have a look for him, he'd
probably be buried in the C of E section.

Hence there are more names than my names of interest in this batch. Thank you
very much indeed Brenda! I am sure everybody appreciates your generosity as
much as I do. This is one of the

This is my first posting to this list and I am hoping to connect with the
Tormey family from County Meath.
This is my husband's family (Coyne).
Catherine Coyne (born 1869) of Ballinlig townland married Patrick
Tormey/Tormy of Hill of Down townland in 1888. These places are located in
County Meath, Ireland near the Westmeath border. In fact Ballinlig is
located in both Meath and Westmeath. The Tormeys immigrated to Melbourne,
Australia shortly after their marriage because their first child was born

date of death for George and Mary Ann. There a
Greetings To all List Members,
Due to the large increase in spam and junk being sent to lists, I have
taken the precaution in switching all Lists under my Administration back
to manual control!
This will not and should not have any effect to any of your posting to
any of the lists you are a member of, the only thing that could be found
to be slower is that if you know of someone who has requested to become
a member of the list will have to now wait till I put them on to the
list.
Thanks for your attentio
Greetings listers!
Many thanks once again to the many SKS's who have helped me over recent
