Dear Listers,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I have officially found Grandma - she's lying in Brighton Cemetery!! Her name was written as COUSINS, (instead of COMINS) on a page of the register that is very difficult to read. There are about 5 deaths listed and hers is the only surname I can read. So my adviceis, search widely when someone eludes you - they could be there! Use other search parameters eg, father's name instead of the person's surname. Or maybe use J* C*, father Alex* would prob
I was hoping that perhaps some kind Melbournians would be able to assist me with the following enquiry......I have two Hughan ancestors who died in the Melbourne area in 1860 and 1887 respectively......Hannah Hughan in Brighton in March 1860, and Fergus McIvor Hughan in Hotham in 1887. Would these two places have had their own individual newspapers at this period, and if so would somebody be able to help me out with a name please? I've exhausted almost all avenues of research with this family, and am about

cousin.....they didn't know about one another and I am hoping that the death
notices would have the names of his children/wife/grandchildren so that I
can make contact with them. It is such a shame, as he died just a few
months after my Dad and I know that Dad would have been thrilled to have

Hi,
it helps if subject headings have some detail ...
I'm wondering whether the probate indexes go up to 1992??
if they do - then there is a chance that the folk concerned may show up and
then details may be gathered from obits etc.
