I am new to the List. On New Years Eve I discovered that James
AFFLECK had arrived in Victoria aboard the Blue Jacket
with wife Helen GIBSON and family in 1864. Someone who I had been
searching for, for 10-15 years. Does anyone out there
know of this family. I have been in the West for 41 years, but don't
know the areas in Victoria. They had a son ALBERT JAMES IN
Sandhurst in 1868 who married Margaret CAIL in 1894. also a WILLIAM
who died in 1933. I also found that Helen GIBSON died in

Quite a few years ago I was looking for the marriage of Elizabeth
NESBITT and John George BARTRAM.
I assumed (wrongly!) that they would have m. around 1850 - give or
take a year or so - as their first child was b. in 1852. They ended up
having 6 children, the last one being b. 1865.
I actually looked for the marriage under all spelling variations
spanning about 20 years, then gave up.
It wasn't until I was checking on some of their ch. marriages that I
actually located theirs!!
They were m. on
Janice,
Here's what I found after a quick search on the 1903 roll -
unfortunately it doesn't give you any relationships at all.
There's a Michael Mahoney (labourer) & Mary Mahoney (home duties) living
at 113 Elgin Street, Carlton.
There are 2 Thomas Mahoney's living in Fitzroy:
One works as a stonemason and lives at 15 Freeman Street, North Fitzroy
& the other is a bookmaker living at 17 Freeman Street, North Fitzroy.
There is a Kathleen Mahoney (barmaid) living at 423 Swanston Street,
Melbourne.

Hello Julie,
Thank you. Yes, he was interred in the Omeo cemetery October 2, 1891. And
yes Julie, you are quite correct his name was ROBERT, not David, as I cited
in an earlier email. Senior moments, again!

Marina

Hello List,
Could the list tell me if the marriage records for a particular church, in a specific City/Town were ever put onto fiche? If so can they be viewed in record offices? If anybody would like to open this link and enter a surname into the marriages you will be able to see what I mean, it gives a particular church, and then the marriage details from a particular church can be viewed on fiche in the Leeds library. http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/
I know that a Hodgson Braithwaite went to Australia
Hi Anne,

You find surname, name, address, occupation and sex.
Not a lot but interesting and sometime there are not a lot of records around
of some people. Also if they moved around, changed occupations etc. Often
you will find other family members living in the same address, handy if they
have the same surname as it is listed alphabetically.
You need to remember however not everyone enrolled to vote.

Hi Gayle, I had a look at the inquest cd for your man, he was from
Fryerstown when he died in 1901, and his Inquest ref. no is 176. I
think you find the records at the PRO.
Happy hunting, Robyn.
Hi Sherrie
I have the death & marriage but nothing more.
Anything else would help get me started.
thanks
