Hello all - I need some help.
I have an 1951 Marriage from the Registry of BDM. It is a copy of St Peters Melbourne registration of the M.
In part it says " with consent of her father [in writing]" - no parents or place of birth etc is listed.
Does anyone know if these "in writing" permissions were kept and are now available in archives or somewhere?
The other thing I have found is that the original shows up a naming error on the BDM- CDs.

Hi folks, I've been lurking for ages now, what with work and all, I hardly
have time to read my emails, let alone have the time to do much research on
my families. I'm looking for my family that came to Australia around 1872.
Henry Wallis, his wife Rosa Victoria (nee Catchpole) and their sons Harry
Edmund and Frederick lived for some time in Victoria in the Mooney Ponds
area. Harry married Mary Ann Jamieson in 1890. Their three children were
Lillian May born 1891, Henry Leonard born 1893, Frederick Vict

You can go into the city and either use credit cards or cash if you wish to but will
not get it straight away, you might have to wait a couple of hours

Ray.

Dear List,
I have been told that there is a Theatre Museum in Melbourne. I am looking for any information relating to a company whose title was 'THE BAND-BOX REVIEW'. It existed in the 1925--1935 era, and may have toured N.Z. My rellie was probably a chorus girl--she died in 1928, aged 23. The company may have been Sydney based.
Any advice most welcome.
With thanks,
Greg.
Hi fellow researchers,
I am trying to trace the Purdy line of my family they are
William Charles Purdy who married Louisa Napper in 1887 in Guernsey Channel Islands
their children Edith Ellen Purdy b.1888
William James Purdy b.1890
James Napper Purdy b.1902
They were all born in Guernsey, but I am led to believe that Edith died in Melbourne possibly in the 1970's.
Also as I cannot find the deaths for the rest of her family they may have all emigrated to Australia together.
They may of left Guernsey after

I don't know if this will help anyone but you can search the Historical
Indexes in Victoria online and it is quite cheap. You need to enter your
credit card number and you set a limit - say $10.00 and you can search. If
you put a name in and don't get a result it costs nothing but if something
is of interest you can continue onto the next page. Each of these pages
costs 97 cents then if you want the cert posted it cost approx $17.00. I
got a list of all The Bradbury's which was 7 pages worth and it only
I have recently subscribed to this list having found a member of my
family on a list of servicemen who served in WW2 in the RAAF.
Amongst many letters that my mother(died 1965) had kept, are some from
her Uncle Henry Cheeseman, his wife Louisa Ada Cheeseman nee Laurence
and their son Arthur Cheeseman, father of Roland Arthur Laurence
Cheeseman, listed in the above service record. All these are dated
1900-1905 and onwards.
I have been researching my family history since 1966 as my mother kept
so much famil
Thanks for that Judy, and yes, I would like the rest of the family. I'd be
very grateful if I could get any marriages and deaths that are available,
too. And Matilda's kids as well, what a bonus!
There was another Matilda Watson who was the sister of Samuel, her marriage
or death might turn up, so would be interested if it does. He was born
1837, so she would be marrying in the 1850's I'd guess.
This is great, I'd come to a standstill with this lot, so can get on with it
now
