1. Re: [ANI] Freshwater [1]
Hi Liz Thank you very much for this (I am just back from having been away on family business for two weeks, and out of email range). Where might I find the records of the convicts who came to Norfolk Island on the Manlius? This a new area for me, and any pointers would be very welcome. 2. [ANI] Carlos Ga [1]
Hi there, My GG Grandfather was Carlos Ga/Gah/Gar/Garr he was married to Mary Ann Bunyan?? and they had possibly 10 children born Norfolk Island, Sydney and Darwin. I know he was born in the Phillipines and migrated to Norfolk Island in the late 1800's but lived a lot of his life between Norfolk Island and Darwin, Australia. He was a pearl fisherman and I have been told he was a policeman in Manilla before that. Would love to hear from anyone with connections. Thanks, Nicole Plowman

No, Carlos does not belong to the Garths. Given the care about names back then, it looks like it's going to be a tricky one! Good luck, Nicole. ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, April 07, 2007 7:54 PM Subject: Re: [ANI] Carlos Ga > There are Garths I think. What a splendid site! Many thanks, Julie. Can you suggest to a new chum to this list where he might find the convict record of Thomas FRESHWATER who, according to a note in Robert Hughes' The Fatal Shore, was hanged on Norfolk Island in 1834 for his part in the mutiny that year? He is likely to be the same Thomas Freshwater who appears in the NSW 1828 Census, aged 22, came out on the Prince Regent in 1827, a shepherd - his master was Rd Rouse, landholder, Bathurst. Thomas would thus be about 28 when he

Hi Liz, I think some of the kids were born on Norfolk, but were registered in Qld. I do know that Carlos lived there for a while on and off between Darwin and Norfolk as I have copies of letters written about a land dispute which state he was going back to Norfolk whilst it was being sorted out. This disputed started in NT in late 1800's - about 1920's after the was. Also his sons enlistment docs, state that their birth place was Norfolk Island. Thanks for trying. 17. [ANI] Convicts on 'Richard Webb' 1842 [0.987652]
Hi Listers I have been told that my ancestor Thomas McHenry listed as Thomas HENRY arrived aboard the 'Richard Webb' from Dublin in 1842. I believe he was then sent to either NSW or Tasmania. Could anyone give me some ideas please on how to track this man down. Many thanks Irene R on the Gold Coast http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/Brent44 -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
