Hi Michael,
Five Dock is an inner city suburb of Sydney in NSW. It is somewhat west of
the heart of Sydney.If you have an address I could check in a Sydney Street

this helps.

Hello Tassie,
No it wasn't a slip of the finger.
I did state the time was 1848 and at that time in history many of the place
names we know were spelt in a different way.
It is best to spell as it was because many of the early certificates may
well have the names spelt the same way.

Hi, could SKS do a look-up for me please. I am trying to find children born to REYNOLDS, John William and PRITCHARD, Mary Josephine around 1880 in Nsw. I have looked on the NSW BDM but there were too many John and Mary's to work out which ones were mine.
Hope you can help me,

Hi All
I think I have just found my ggrandfather arriving on the Stebonheath to Botany Bay on 27/2/1858, he boarded at Plymouth.
What I would like to know:
Would his age have been recorded on boarding at Plymouth or when he arrived in Botany Bay, and, approximately how long would the journey of taken.
Many thanks

Hi Lynne,
I had a quick look at my CD's based on the Pioneer Indexes for four states
in Aust. No sign of anything except the marriage for Edward Robert Quail and
Joanna M(a)cIntosh in 1856. (Ref #225).
They do not appear to have had any children in NSW. (Remember that the
Pioneer Index is not exhaustive - in fact it has a lot of holes!!).
Could see no deaths for either Edward or Joanna, and no remarriage for
Joanna.
I suggest that, as you know where they were both born, you will need to look
on both Is

in two different generations) and want to find out if his wife is buried
there too....

Anyone out there with links/knowledge of the Tamworth-born SMITH families:
John m. Elizabeth Jane Walker: 3 children at Coonabarabran, Gunnedah and Dungog;
James: partner unknown;
Thomas William m. Jane J. Davis; 4 children at Bungendore, elsewhere;
Henry Joseph m. Charlotte Ann Berry; 3 children at Tamworth;

Hi Chris,
Try the newspapers first, as such a happening would surely have been written
up. The Tamworth Northern Daily Leader, or the Quirindi Advocate would be
able to help.
2. All the Coroner's reports would probably be held in the Coroner's Office
in Sydney, unless there are still copies in Tamworth, if the inquest was
local.
2. Death certificates would just say "Cause of Death: Accidental drowning
due to fall from bridge" or something like that. The detail or events
leading up to the accident would
Reposting my surname interests - I am searching for any members of the
DICKINS family from London, Robert Dickins was a hairdresser in Sydney, when
his first wife died, he remarried to Mary Jane HOLMES. He died a few years
later, and most of the children of the marriage died as infants. His eldest
daughter, Amelia Mary Jane, survived. She married Joseph Alexander ELLIS.
Her mother, Mary Jane Holmes Dickins sometimes known as Jane ABEL, was
married again to James GOFF/GOUGH, with whom she had several more
Is anyone researching Davis family? I have a lovely pic of 2 curly haired
teenagers, and on the back of the pic it says from Mabell and Norman, 1909 -
I have an inkling these were Davis children. Photograph was taken in
Sydney.
I am beginning to think my Cecilia Haynes from SA married two Davis men, one
in 1891 in Adelaide, and Alfred B, a timber man after that, and possibly
between 1891 and 1894 when she was in Pennsylvania producing daughters Vera
and Flora.

Does anyone have any information about the place Edgeroi, near Narrabri as it would have been in 1871? Was it the name of a sheep property? Was there a town there as well in those days? Ancestor Maurice MCGrath was a shepherd there when daughter Ann was born in 1871.
Thanks for any help,

Good Afternoon All,
I have just received my grandfather's WW1 service record and on his
enlistment form he lists that he was in the "3rd NSW Bushmen S. Africa" I
presume this is for Boer War service, but even though I have searched
through all lists for all "NSW and Bushmen" entries I cannot find any record
of him. Does anyone out there have any suggestions as to what this might
mean, or if I am doing the search incorrectly?
