Hi Everyone,
Just to let everyone know that after some very co-operative discussion off
list between the list-admins of Pilliga, New England, Central and West,
that I think we have very amicably settled on who covers what area. The
main changes are:
Hay, although initially advertised by Rootsweb as being in AUS-NSW-CENTRAL,
is in AUS-NSW-WEST
Wellington is now in AUS-NSW-CENTRAL, not Pilliga
Manilla was originally in a map I compiled for Pilliga, but appears better
to be in New England.
This does
Maggi,
Bodangora is about 10 kms from Wellington on the Wellington to Mudgee Rd. It
was first called Mitchell's Creek and then Bodangora. It was a gold mining
town and the Catholic Church still stands. The post office and public school
are now private residences.
I hope this helps.
I have more information on Bodangora if you are interested

My impression is that:

Hi
My first time adding to list.
I am having trouble tracing my ggrandmother, Catherine Elizabeth WILLIAMS,
married to Alexander Francis WILKIE, Grazier, Darling Downs, at Church of
Holy Trinity, Dubbo on 13 January 1873. On marriage certificate Catherine
was named as Elizabeth Williams, Innkeepers daughter and her father as
Innkeeper.
They had four children and the information I have so far comes from their
birth, death and marriage certificates:
1. Alexander Perrell b. 1873, at the Overland Hotel,
Hi,
I am researching the Poile & Rapley families who were both farmers near
Wagga at Brucedale & Downside. Both arrived in the Wagga district in the
1870's. The Rapleys though had been at Camden since 1832.
I'm happy to share info with any interested people.

Listers,
If anyone has links to the BALES name in and around Temora from about 1880s to almost the present day, then I would love to share information. At least 4 generations of Bales family are buried in Temora Cemetery , all but one without a headstone.
Associated names include BRADLEY, McKENZIE, McSHANE, SHEA, and many others.

Hi all,
One of the names of interest to me in this area is Kelly.
Henry Kelly arrived as a convict in 1835 on the "Royal Admiral". At some
point he was assigned to Mr A Rankin of North Logan. He married Margaret
McLeod who had arrived on the "James Moran" in 1839 from Scotland as an
assisted immigrant. She also had been assigned to A Rankin. They married
11 June 1841. Children for whom I have been able to find details are:
William born 25 February 1841, baptised 11 june 1841
Anne b. 15 July 1842, ba

Hello Everyone,
This is just the real person (not the computer) saying Welcome to all the
new subscribers. There are some familiar names on there, and some that I do
not immediately recognise.
In all, there are 14 list subscribers and 7 digest subscribers at this
stage, so it might be nice now if anyone who felt so inclined started to
post interests. You never know, the new person on there just might be the
person you have been looking for. :)

Hi Listers
I am trying to track some some of my Mothers old rellies. My Mother who is 91 years old was a FIRMAN. I have managed to track down most of the Victorian FIRMANS ( or should that be FIRMENS) but I noticed that a couple snuck accross the border.

Hi Listers
This is my first message to the list.
My big interest is in Henry BURTON, who started Burton's Circus in Sydney
in 1850, and who later bought a property in Mathoura which became the
winter quarters for the circus.
Family lore has it that my grandmother, Lucy Marion BURTON, was the
daughter of Henry and his second wife, Fanny (Francesca), nee HANLY, born
about 1867.
Lucy married Frederick James BRADSTREET in Albury in 1892 and their second
child was my mother.
I'm keen to contact any descenda
Hello everyone:
Thanks to Linda for starting this list and to Louise Lowe
for posting her STAINES, PHILLIPS, SCOBIE and
DODSON interests and to Keith Skinner for his

My own interests are in the Albury and Henty-Pleasant Hills area where
my father's German forbears settled (KNIE, SIEBERT & SCHARDT) and my
mother's Irish and Cornish ones (GARVEY, CARMODY, B
I am a new subscriber but am looking for any reference or stories about my grandfather Leslie Ethelbert Penman who was the very popular first head master of Hay War Memorial High School - I think in the 1930's. Would anyone have or be able to direct me to a source to help me with the years the Penman family was in Hay and/or the start of the high school? Many thanks, Merrill
